I mean…. A drone hovering consumes a few tens of amps…. Is this field capable of injecting more current than the one consumed???? I cannot believe it.

So what is the difference between landing, and charging, probably faster, from a dedicated power supply, than consuming energy while hovering in a specified area.

I am not sure why this is a good solution at all. If the drone needs to descend because the RF can’t be beamed up, why not landing the drone on a induction recharging pad so it doesn’t need to consume the battery while it recharges it?

Highly unlikely, as that would be 7.2KW wireless charging ie 150A at 48V, the best phones can barely do 30W. And the extra weight of the charging coil would make the drone too heavy. Never too late for April 1st apparently.

If it's not doing anything while hovering, why not let it land? There's no way the wireless technology could hurt birds and bugs.

Electromagnetically? pollution wise? Human damage wise? NO. Today, tomorrow, no matter. It remains a solid NO. Cancer never goes into fashion.

Not at all credible! Transmitting several kW of energy above ground to a loosely coupled target would fry the electronics and drown out all radio and GPS devices for many miles around. Would be more believable to land and charge over a few hours using coupled induction pads.
