75 minutes of imax?!?!?!?!??!

And 1.43:1 (even taller ratio) for select IMAX theaters.

Anthony Roman9 days ago

It’s not the last 75 minutes it’s 75 minutes total of IMAX

I love how all these accounts are like “will expand floor to ceiling” and then just mention standard 1.90:1 lol…. Nothing special. If you can find a dual laser GT IMAX near you for 1.43:1 on the other hand… holy shit.

Alvin_22 🇵🇷9 days ago

So the full movie is not in 1:90 ratio??

Since IMAX has been a major topic of conversation lately with ‘The Odyssey’ being in theaters, now’s a fitting time to share a little bit of IMAX lore. For ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ the arena sequences were shot with IMAX cameras, so if you watch the movie on a standard Blu-ray, as Katniss enters the arena, the film’s aspect ratio will change from a standard 2.40:1 aspect ratio, to a full 1.78:1 ratio to fill the entire screen for the rest of the movie. You can’t watch the movie this way on streaming or digital platforms. Another reason why preserving physical media is important.
