The situation in Israel can be perfectly summarized by comparing it to the situation in Pearl Harbor. The question is do you kill innocent civilians to save more innocent civilians? Some say no, some say yes. This is covered in almost every ethics course with the train analogy. Do you pull the lever or not? 🤔 Innocent people die in war, but counter terrorism can never be falsely equated to an act of war, for far more people will die from inaction as opposed to action. People love to make war some black and white talking point, but it’s far more complex than that. War is hell, it’s evil, and it’s inevitable. It’s in our nature unfortunately, and until we fix that which may never happen, we need to deal with that reality as best we can. “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Israel did next to nothing five times throughout modern history. This time, they pulled the lever and people might want to remember there were 5 innocent people on that other track. It’s time more people got on the right side of history.

We saw abuses of the green card system in many cases as well, and so we decided that we were going to reform it. Anytime you reform a system, there's going to be some disruptions, some hiccups, some inconvenience. But we think in the long term we're going to have a system that's much more stable. Indian professionals that seek to come to the United States are going to find themselves with a system that is more efficient, more effective, and better for both them and our country as well.

Massie: My amendment is simple. It strikes $3.3 billion of foreign aid to the country of Israel from the state department funding bill. We've got $39.4 trillion of debt. We've got needs at home, which include our infrastructure, our roads and bridges. We've got a shortfall in that fund. And we've got homeless veterans, and we're sending more money to Israel in this bill than we spend on homeless veterans in this country. Just to put it in perspective, there are 3000 counties in this country, and if you divide that into 3 billion, that's $1 million from every county. This is not a significant amount of money that is going overseas. So I think we should stop it. We should put them on a diet.
