Arizona: A great look at the terrain crews and Fire Managers are working with on the Horton Fire. Full suppression tactics are being used, including firing Ops to box the fire in, which also reduces exposure for resources in the steeps. A community meeting will be held tomorrow in Payson to update the local residents on the fire. It is suspected to be human caused and an investigation continues. SW Area IMT 1 will assume command of the fire. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this breathtaking view of the Horton Fire. 🙏 The fire was mapped at 1,074 acres.

A significant amount of lightning yesterday started dozens of new wildfires across Oregon and Washington, some becoming very active this evening. This is the Brewer Fire burning in Jefferson county, Oregon. 500+ acres, and she’s gone. The Kaiser Canyon Fire in Okanogan county, Washington is 1,000 acres. The Neff Jones Fire is 1,500 acres and the Lyons Ferry Fire is 3,000 acres in Franklin county, Washington and active. The Crosswhite Fire is 4,667 acres and the Cove Creek Fire is 1,000 acres, both in Wheeler county, Oregon. The Lower Dry Creek Fire in Umatilla county, Oregon is 5,000 acres. The Hopkins Fire is 5,000+ acres and the Porcupine Ridge Fire is 1,000 acres, both in Gilliam county, Oregon. The Wilcox Fire in Sherman county, Oregon is 2,500 acres. And those are just the fires over 1k acres…. There are dozens more.

Pinpoint accuracy, what a beautiful drop: The MM115 HWY 20 Fire outside Mountain Home, Idaho is now just under 5,000 acres. Crews and aviation teamed up bring the fire to 10% containment as of this afternoon. The north side of the fire is looking good, with crews continuing to make progress and strengthen containment efforts. The southern side remains more challenging, with firefighters and incident management worked this morning to identify opportunities to connect existing lines and “put the pieces together” to increase containment. California: Eaton and Palisades Fire Morning Update: Eaton Fire: The Fire is 14,117 acres and 15% contained. 7,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed. They have 2,832 personnel currently on scene. Elevated Fire weather through Wednesday. Palisades Fire: The Fire is 21,596 acres and 11% contained. 100 engines were surged to Mandeville Canyon last night to help work the fire pushing towards to 405. They saw 1,000 acres of growth last night. 5,316 structures have been destroyed. Multiple people arrested last night breaking curfews. 8 fatalities on the Eaton Fire, 3 for the Palisades area. There are 13 people reported missing. Grid searches are underway across the fire areas. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this aerial footage of the fire area. 🙏

The Cottonwood Fire is a Great Basin monster. The fire is now estimated at 2,000+ acres, and it looks like it’s all of that and possibly more. At this time, all residents and visitors from Hi-Lo Cabins up to Kent Lake have been evacuated. Crews will be taking water from the Pressurized Irrigation pond. Due to this, Beaver City is asking that there is No Watering from the Pressurized Irrigation System until further notice. A massive resource response is ongoing, with another 25,000 acre fire next door also active, The Iron Fire. “She gone.” Thanks to the subscriber who sent in this incredible view of the fire.

Firefighters have stopped forward progress, and the fire is currently estimated at 28 acres. The fire was initially reported as 1-2 acres in medium brush with a moderate rate of spread. There are currently 2,420 personnel on scene, including 378 engines, 20 Water Tenders, 34 Hand Crews, 17 Dozers and 14 helicopters. VCFD is in unified command with CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 5 and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners. Damage assessment teams are in process of identifying and verifying the number of structures that have been impacted. Our thoughts are with all of members of our local Ventura County community through this devastating incident. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts. Fire activity has decreased due to a decrease in winds over the area. A large animal evacuation center has been established at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara. A public information hotline has been established. Affected residents can call 805-465-6650 for assistance. Evacuation orders remain in place. Residents are encouraged to visit for the most current evacuation information. An evacuation center has been setup at Padre Serra Parrish at 5205 Upland Rd in Camarillo. #uwcnf #BuckBasinFire on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District grew to approximately 230 acres yesterday. Fire is burning in heavy dead standing fuels in mixed conifer and aspen stands. Resources made some good progess on building an initial anchor point to build off of for future shifts. Air support helped with bucket drops until weather picked up and were unable to continue in the afternoon. The fire is located in Buck Basin 4 to 5 miles northwest of the Currant Creek Reservoir. Red Creek Mountain Road FS080 and Low Pass Road FS106 are closed to the public at this time. Resources on scene: two engines, two Type 2 crews, two Type 1 helicopters, scoopers, water tender and a grader will be assisting the operations today. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. Crews were in the area today working on the northern section of the fire. At this time, there are no reported threats to structures or communities. Smoke is visible from Highway 35 and 40 and surrounding area please do not report.

These firefighters are expected to assist in Colorado for up to 14 days. This deployment also marks a first for CAL FIRE, as it is the first time we have sent firefighting resources to Colorado through the National Association of State Foresters State-to-State Partnership. We are proud to support our partners and communities beyond California when help is needed.
