Purdue’s new 5-star commit, Isaiah Hill. Watching the video below (from inc.tapes) had me more excited as a fan than any dunk would have. Look at Isaiah Hill run the floor and get an assist. Dude looks like a guard. He is 7-feet tall!! And then his leadership afterwards, celebrating like he was the one who dunked and getting his guys hyped up (signs of being team-first and good character). How many backup tight ends can say they blocked two Hall of Famers on the same play? Watch Tip Reiman (87) on Kyler Murray's TD run. He nearly shoves Nick Bosa over at the snap, with Bosa trying to tackle James Conner. Then he gets Fred Warner for good measure. LB popped some during A Day and a guy that’s in the rotation who probably isn’t getting enough kudos is Cayden Jones. I like this rep from the junior, even though it resulted in a TD. A couple of things first - OL gets a good jump off the snap. But Jones has instant play recognition and immediately dials in on the mobile design to the right - tracking his responsibility - the QB. Also have to acknowledge that it feels like Daniel Hill gives up on the play early - which in live action would’ve led to clean lane for Jones to hit the QB.

“This is unprecedented. I’ve been in football my entire life, but I’ve never seen anyone go from the 8th grade to the NFL” Jon Gruden (Jon Gruden) speaking on George Fant (George Fant) who didn’t play football in high school or college, but stepped out onto the field as a rookie on Monday night football as a starting offensive tackle for the Seahawks. This was one of my favorite projects in my 20+ years as a performance coach. At the time, he didn’t have an agent, he didn’t have the funds to pay for training, but he believed in himself and that was enough to get him a chance! George just finished up his 10th season in the NFL. I’d say he made a good decision passing up the opportunity to be a pro basketball player overseas! God’s glory.

This is an example of a justified punch. As you can see the guy is merely holding his arms out the entire time trying to get the guy to hold back/deescalate the situation, the black guy swats his hand (this counts as a physical attack) the guy doesn't back down so he punches. The law literally doesn't care about whether you are justified or not though, so don't throw sucker punches, be ready to counter/defend against them, once someone physically lays their hands on you THEN you unload. As long as you fear for your life after all. NOTE: I've noticed this a lot, but a lot of people from "the hood" have a habit of saying shit like "don't touch me" when you aren't even touching them just trying to use motions and body language/defensive posture and then they make physical contact with you and throw the first punch or make physical contact: NEWSFLASH—saying "don't touch me" while touching someone doesn't make you the good guy lmao, same thing with the Alex Pretti case, the dimpshit put his hands on an officer, then proceeded to resist arrest while yelling "no don't touch me" like a retard, him getting shot was entirely legally justifiable (especially considering his gun discharged and instead of having his hands up or laying down/still he tries to get up and is reaching at his pants) I'm not trying to be tough (lmao) nor am I saying you have to fight fair (I don't) but you 100% need to know the law if you're going to have your ass covered. ITT: Don't be a retard and know the law.

Notes from today's #Bengals practice, another solid showing from the rebuilt defense. -Play of the day goes to Bryan Cook, stepping in front of an anticipation in-breaker from Burrow to Mitch Tinsley. Great read, veteran play. 📽️⬇️ DJ Ivey was thrust in with the first team with Dax Hill scaled back today. He showed well, including a great PBU on a deep ball left one-on-one with Tee Higgins. -Bengals DL continues to make Burrow and company uncomfortable. Not as rough as yesterday, but those guys are just a load right now. -Two days in a row now with a splash play by Colbie Young. Confidence is growing in the rookie. -Dohnte Meyers shows up every day. -Deep cut: A few particularly nice reps in 1-on-1 work for UDFA Corey Robinson II. -Burrow off a bit today. Missed on a couple deep balls and got sniped by Cook for the INT. -A number of Reds in attendance, including Sal Stewart, who was in his Ja'Marr Chase jersey and exchanged his jersey with Chase after they all chatted for a while. -More plays and analysis coming on The Athletic blog and Growler recap show.

Officially moving on from Tech game after I get this thought off my chest. I more than welcome anyone smarter than me in regards to the football to chime in. I truly, truly, truly cannot wrap my head around the thought process here. These two plays I'm sure anyone with brain can agree officially sealed KU's slim chances in having a chance to win this game. The play calling to me seems like completely flipped in logic at best? First one, you are down 4, on your own 30 so you are not going to go for this. Ignoring that we were getting dominated in the trenches in this game and that the 'obvious' play is a run, I don't get why we make the decision in a must get spot to take the ball out of our QB's (who at the time was rolling) hands. Jalon Daniels is our best player. In an absolute must get/need, we should be relying on him to make a play. Then the second one. I obviously don't know the answer here, but I feel somewhat confident that the reason we didn't run here was because of how the earlier 3rd & 1 run went. While I don't necessarily agree with the premise of decision making on this alone, I can appreciate the recognition that we are going to struggle to gain a yard in an obvious run situation. But the thing is, we are in go for it range so the one thing you absolutely cannot have is a massive negative play. Literally anything else is okay (obviously not a turnover). I truly don't think there's a good chance we run the ball on this attempt and get a yard. But THIS situation gives you a free shot at it if you want to take it. I think this play call would have worked if we didn't let their best player run at our qb freely but I'd just argue this play had a ton of potential risk that wasn't necessary. Hell even a play action pass out of out shot gun or something rolling JD out to the left would have given us a good shot at first down with an escape route to bail out on the play if something went wrong. I'm once again for the millionth time saying I know and understand that this entire staff knows more about football in their pinky than I do. But I do think the game has evolved and game + clock management doesn't really require football knowledge/have a direct correlation to one's football knowledge. It's not as simple as ESPN's graphic says GO so you should go etc, there are variables and human behavior etc to deal with and I understand that. But we are just getting these situations downright wrong. We are flipping a coin that has a 20 pound weight attached to the heads side and calling tails almost every single time. S/O anyone who read all this but would just love some insight if there's anyone who disagrees and is a lot smarter than I!

Notes from today’s #Bengals practice: - Overall, another winning day for the defense, but not as conclusive as recent practices - Cashius Howell popped in a big way on a couple rushes off the edge against Orlando Brown using both speed and power. Also blew by Andrew Coker for a would-be sack. Probably his best practice to date. The fact Zac Taylor referenced him having the same tenacity as Erick All tells you what you need to know about he’s viewed. - Vet day for Chase meant extra passes for Tee Higgins. Hit some, but still off at times, working to get their connection down (nobody should be worried about this). - Ugly drop by Andrei Iosivas to close practice on a crosser. A lot to like about where Iosivas is at, but he just has to eliminate those moments from his game or he’ll be watching Colbie Young before long. - Offense had been very good operationally this camp, but a delay of game and false start showed up today. -Dax Hill still limited, DJ Ivey and DJ Turner both with PBUs. 📽️ Jalen Davis with a nice play on third down with a PBU -Colbie Young had a drop, but also the recipient of one of Burrow’s best balls of the day running a seam between Knight at Battle.
