"Starting today, we’re making an efficient model available in terms of size and capabilities, and we’ll add other models and sizes soon." @sundarpichai

We'be been waiting for this for a long time 🔥. I tested most LLMs out there, and for now, chatGPT API is way above the rest. I'm hoping Palm will bring some competition to this field! very exciting!

Same! Hope Google nails the release

My main takeaway

Ok so they didn’t even launch a waitlist?

Will it be free for everyone like Google's search?

Cool - but if Google messes up the release again and just post out a random Google Form link for its waitlist - they'd yet again miss the point of why OpenAI got so successful so fast.

Progress via blogs and gifs is noisy in this new zeitgeist of hands-on demos and APIs. They need to replace "AI safety" folks with AI alignment experts and productize their research ideas in hours. Concrete feedback loops are essential during a platform shift, not 5-sec attention
