Jeff Dean’s statement hits different when you realize he’s not speculating — he’s shipping. AI reaching junior dev level in a year means entire engineering pipelines are about to be restructured. This isn’t theory anymore. It’s deployment time.

Modern recruiting search firms are using a new Autonomous applicant tracking system on the market. Built for the age of AI

I'll believe it when I see it. AI is the new grift industry, billions of dollars poured into it and very little to show. Image gen, writing a little code, helping students cheat, and dong remedial paper work isn't what I call real progress.

Skeptical. Too much focus on code and academic benchmarks. Not enough focus on the things humans are still better at, which is what is actually required to jobs.

"but we have that already" - no we don't, not even close. He is talking about actual software engineers, not code generators producing a few components. If you don't understand the difference, you're not qualified to comment on this.

Who wants an AI system that operates at the level of a Junior Engineer? “How much would like my AI system to fuck up your codebase?” “Yes.”

It's time for the weekly "we're coming for your jobs" claim to make junior engineers think twice about asking for raises or promotions!

AI already codes better than junior devs. He must be talking about software architecture, which junior devs are usually quite bad at.

So insane that people think this is a good thing

Ai start up idea: Help Junior engineers become senior engineers asap :P

Google is behind?!
