In the old days the cost of a dictatorship and the need for getting the army onside and other institutions meant these regimes would only develop in 3rd world shit holes. I don't buy that the social media age ban is about child safety at all. It is about verifying everyone's ID to get on social media, and it is about removing young people's right to engage in the conversation online. It is the thin end of a very nasty wedge. The start of an Australian digital prison... an online penal colony. I will not be calm. We must push back.
