Interesting timing — right when AI-native local search apps were starting to gain traction. Google has a habit of waiting, watching, then crushing. Ask Maps might be late, but the data advantage makes it dangerous from day one.

Ask Maps is NLP on top of the world's best geospatial dataset. interesting question is how far it goes — eventually you're not searching a map, you're asking an agent to plan your day. that's a fundamentally different product.

It'd be useful to have a "glide" portion to mapping where things like the beginning of a trip, where the driver is already familiar with directions, doesn't receive unnecessary, detailed instructions. For example like when leaving your neighborhood.
