@googlemaps “Gemini, give me directions to the best strip club within a 15 mile radius. Make no mistakes.”

Ask Maps is a new way to get answers to your complex, real-world questions with a simple conversation. Try asking things like: 🪫 “My phone is dying — where can I charge it without having to wait in a long line for coffee?” 🎾 “Is there a public tennis court with lights on that I can play at tonight?” 🚘 "I’m headed to the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and Coral Dunes — any recommended stops along the way?" No more sifting through research and reviews — just tap “Ask Maps” and get your questions answered with a customized map. Ask Maps starts rolling out now in the U.S. and India on Android and iOS, with desktop coming soon.

The Maps driving experience is also evolving with Immersive Navigation, featuring clearer visuals and intuitive guidance. You’ll be able to see the buildings, overpasses and terrain around you in a vivid 3D view, made possible with help from Gemini models. You’ll also be able to: 👀 See more of your route to prepare for what’s next. 🤔 Understand tradeoffs for alternate routes to pick what works best for you. 🛣️ Arrive easily with helpful details like parking and entrance information. Immersive Navigation starts rolling out today across the U.S. and will expand in coming months to eligible iOS and Android devices, CarPlay, Android Auto and cars with Google built-in.

@googlemaps Maybe now Maps can tell me which lane to be in before I have 0.2 seconds to cross 5 lanes of traffic. 🏎️💨💀

@googlemaps

@googlemaps >Prompt: Avoid these neighborhoods/demographics.

It’s the biggest update in over a decade because y’all asleep at the wheel. Some recommendations as a power user: - Allow permanent selection of dark mode - At the start of a journey is when you most need to know which direction to drive. google maps seems to love doing the 360 no scope spaz out immediately when you start driving. Maybe a loading spinner would be good if you're not ready to direct me - Stop changing my fucking route while I'm driving. The default should be to stick to the original route and recommend alt routes but not to auto-switch to them - When I search for a location that i have saved “hearted” with an associated name like “Dans house” consider displaying it when I search “Dans” - Same goes for locations i visit frequently that share names with more popular places but are hours away. If i search Stratford and i am constantly in and around east london don’t show me Stratford upon Avon. If i search “theatre” and i go to this specific theatre every week, maybe show me that one? - Fix your maps in portugal and spain they suck. Yes, the roads are designed poorly which makes it hard, but you could for example on the highway where they seem to love putting multiple exits within 50m of each other and nested exits and exits combined with on-ramps, mark exits that we should not take in red and the correct exits in green. - Another portuguese specific one here, but stop recommending a route that is 1 min faster that will literally break my car because it’s a completely unmaintained dirt road vs a smooth tarmac road. Same goes for recommended routes that are pitch black with no lights to save 1 min - Use your ai satellite api to show me pothole warnings, free parking spaces, spaces to park with shade. Shit, 5 mins before i arrive ask me if you should look for the best parking for me and let me opt in to reroute to it when you find it to finish my journey. Man so many missed opportunities over the past decade. Dm me for more feature requests.

@googlemaps Your team of a thousand PMs should focus on improving the UX of Maps, not throwing AI slop against the wall.

@googlemaps I'm going back to one of these

@googlemaps Well that’s a feature nobody’s gonna use but good job

@googlemaps 👏👏👏

@googlemaps This is clearly the next generation map .

@googlemaps As someone who’s been through 10 countries in the last year, this is genuinely the feature I’ve wanted most. “Find me a quiet coffee shop near my hotel that’s open now and has good wifi” is a question I ask myself daily but can’t easily type into a search bar.

@googlemaps Can you fix your navigation first? Are you trying to become @Microsoft?

@googlemaps finally maps will stop sending me to the wrong mcdonalds lol... gemini better know the difference between the good one and the one with the broken ice cream machine

@googlemaps me going to local grocery store after following AI enabled google map

@googlemaps google maps about to tell me "turn left in 300m or just give up and cry" 💀

@googlemaps All that features and you guys can’t add the YouTube Music support to the google maps?

@googlemaps Google maps be like turn right :)

@googlemaps Google took the maps meme personally

@googlemaps Can you bring that to waze? Google maps sucks

@googlemaps For someone who travels a lot and spends a lot of time on google maps trying to find restaurants, barbers, gyms, things to do etc. This is going to be a game charger and save me a lot of time

@googlemaps Combining Gemini with real-world mapping is a powerful step. Navigation is becoming truly intelligent.

@googlemaps I don't want Google Maps to automatically change my route when I'm not looking. To do this now I have to make multiple stops (add stops) along the route so I'm sure to go the way I want it to.

@googlemaps I think @googlemaps knows it's Bitget UEX app.

@googlemaps Protect cats at all costs. 🐈 They will be our last line of defense against AI. 🔊

@googlemaps This is one of the biggest AI update an app could get. And there are people that think they don't want AI in their life. Think about that. How stupid does that sound?

@googlemaps Yet you still direct me to turn left over a 6 lane road on a blind hill, with no traffic light, instead of just going the other way and turning right at a light.

@googlemaps Do you @google @madebygoogle really think that we, people from other countries outside the US and India, are inferior beings unworthy of your AI features, but forced to pay the same, or even more, for your products and subscriptions?

@googlemaps Does the IA knows that you can't turn left on a traffic light in Argentina? Been years of maps and you never fixed that

@googlemaps Still think Apple Maps has better 3D and they recently updated places such as Kyoto and Tokyo. Looking awesome now!

@googlemaps Just curious how Google make money from Google Map?

@googlemaps holy shit

@googlemaps This was a much needed update

@googlemaps Well, Google finally remembering its long held power…and putting things together. This is part of the reason (mentioned in third paragraph) for the SoftBank downgrade - below.

@googlemaps Google Maps is the best map app and I’m tired of no one believing me - an Apple user for over two decades
