Google reached out to me to create a short film for Google I/O 2025 using Flow, their new AI filmmaking tool. It’s been a magical experience collaborating with one of the most visionary tech teams in the world. Google #GoogleIO The result is Dear “Stranger”, a film that explores... the infinite nature of universal love between a grandmother and grandchild across countless parallel worlds. People often ask why I use AI to craft my cinematic visions. For me, it’s not just about cutting-edge tech—it’s about unlocking stories that might otherwise remain untold. AI removes traditional constraints like time, budget, and scale, allowing me to express something deeply personal: the memory of my grandmother. This film is a visual poem—an emotional offering to her. She was the foundation of my dreams, but never had the chance to witness the life I live today. I imagine her pride, had she seen the person I’ve become. Dear “Stranger” captures flickering memories, shared love, and the eternal question: If there are infinite worlds, could we meet again—somewhere, somehow? Google approached me and asked if I would be down to collab with their research team to create a film for Google I/O. Not only would I have access to Flow, their latest AI filmmaking tool, but I would also be responsible for giving feedback on the product itself. The filmmaker in me was excited for the challenge, but the technologist in me was living out my dream in helping mold a next-generation product for a new era of filmmaking. I created an AI short film — Infinite Frames. A love letter to cinema — a tribute to the films that shaped me. I’ve always believed film is never just entertainment. It was the actual reason OpenAI was formed. And I called them out on it and this act impacted my ability to “work in the industry”. I had to do this of course - test out the new Google Omni Flash model with my favorite 3d art sandbox - Dreams. Just a quick test for now.. I'll be sharing more examples and techniques soon but wanted to show you this one. There's something very fitting about combining "handmade" 3d models and animations sculpted from scratch in software that runs on 2013 hardware, with some of the most advanced AI technology in the world. As part of my work for Google, I've used Google V2V models on a few different projects now - Ancestra, Dear Upstairs Neighbors and most recently one of the IO films (I'll share more about that project soon) 🥰 - and video continues to be my favorite form of input for Generative Ai workflows. If an image says more than a thousand words, a video says more than a million. And knowing that these capabilities are now in the hands of all of you, makes me very excited to see the new workflows and projects that will come out of it. What do you think of Omni so far?

"At the Edge of the Galaxy" – Episode 1 I created this video entirely using AI, specifically the Grok Imagine software. I developed the script with Grok . Then I produced it using all the tools available in Grok Grok Imagine , particularly the Agent mode, which saves a tremendous amount of time. I made this video alone, using just a standard computer. I was blown away by the ability to create dialogue that sounds authentic and worlds filled with such lifelike creatures. The consistency of the characters and locations is excellent, and the realism is breathtaking. I don't see what is stopping anyone today from creating a film entirely conceived using AI with Grok Imagine. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I will be happy to answer them. AI can give actors jobs, not replace them. Many years ago, I was lucky to work on the LucasArts game "Full Throttle" by TimOfLegend. I worked on the opening cinematic (back then called cutscenes!), and it was always one of my favorite games of that era, and the one I felt had the most potential to be a film. It felt like a movie. A few weeks ago, I had an idea for a new FilmSpark.ai demo: a biker bar scene. Then I said, "Hey, let's make it the bar from Full Throttle!" Just for fun. That's when I was pointed to the Peter screenplay for Full Throttle. It was cool to see someone else thought this had film potential too. After reading the screenplay, and seeing how he kept the opening cinematic mainly intact, we decided to make a proof-of-concept AI teaser, recreating the opening cinematic as accurately as we could. We used the original audio for authenticity. Hamilton Camp's Corley felt a little cartoonish on the AI character, which was weird but cool. Mark Hamill's Ripburger worked even better. Our goal is something becoming very common in Hollywood right now: using AI to create a sizzle trailer to get a film funded. Think of it as the new graphic novel. We want to use AI to get a film greenlit with real actors, shot on location, and use AI for VFX as needed. To be clear, we are not advocating for an "AI Full Throttle film." This is one way Hollywood is using AI, behind the scenes.

We collaborated with Google to produce a music video for the queen of Turkish pop, affectionately known as the “Little Sparrow.” On the 50th anniversary of her artistic career, we crafted this video using only Veo 3 and Imagen, in collaboration with Google. From the very beginning, our goal was not to make something that felt like an AI experiment, but to create a music video—one that truly fits the song. Instead of relying on eye-catching AI tricks, we aimed for the kind of emotional, feel-good, and hopeful story that the artist herself has always delivered throughout her career. We’re deeply grateful to Google for bringing us together with a living legend.

I was fortunate to utilize the Dreamina AI Video 3.0 model in the production of this film. At the same time, Him is also my tribute to the genre of “cruel youth” stories. For teenageers, the world often appears more pure—yet that very purity makes emotions feel all the more weighty.Him is a love story. It’s not a love story. And at its core—it is still a love story. I’ve retained the Sichuan-Chongqing setting, but placed it within a fictional world to create an experience that feels both familiar and fresh. The visual style of this piece is inspired by the gouache illustrations once found in old Chinese language textbooks—imagery that defined the visual memories of an entire generation. To me, those gouache paintings have become synonymous with nostalgia. I’m curious to see how audiences will respond to this stylistic approach. On a deeper level, I hope this story can deliver a moment of genuine emotional resonance—something I wasn’t quite able to achieve in The Thin man The Gun The Hotpot.
