We pay the highest taxes but the our state government can't even do basic fire prevention and forest management! Wildfires are a natural part of life in California, but they don't have to be this out of control and catastrophic. What we need is proper forest management and I'll make sure that's exactly what we get when I'm governor. ☀️👊

CAL FIRE's mission reaches far beyond firefighting. Each year CAL FIRE engages in hundreds of fuels reduction projects across the state. These range from using heavy equipment to clear overgrown vegetation, to applying beneficial fire to the landscape. We work alongside state, federal, local, and tribal partners to accomplish these prevention efforts. Additionally, we are working to improve building codes and standards to improve community resilience and help reduce the spread and impact of fires. Fire prevention is an essential component in reducing the catastrophic effects of wildfire. Last week, CAL FIRE announced that the second of our seven C-130H airtanker conversions was ready for action–adding to the largest civil aerial firefighting fleet in the world. 💪 The fleet is positioned across California to reach the most remote areas of the state in 20 minutes or less. Our C-130H air tankers are a powerful firefighting tool, delivering 4,000 gallons of fire retardant per flight. The five CAL FIRE airbases that will be home to C-130H’s are: Ramona, Paso Robles, Fresno, McClellan, and Chico.
