The change of tone from the political class and the debates on the hashtags confirm that the focus on Ruto this whole time has been to divert attention from IMF, and the historical pattern of western capital resetting our economies to ensure that Africa never outgrows producing cheap, unskilled labor and raw materials. Part of why this message doesn't sink home, at least in Kenya, is because we believe that thinking beyond our basic needs is a luxury for Africans. But what that attitude really is, is racist. There's no way to get out of our current mess if we keep believing that it is not our place to learn about the world beyond State House, yet the strings are being pulled from beyond State House.

This was Peter Obi in 2017 campaigning for Oseloka Obaze in Ihiala, Anambra state. During this campaign, Peter Obi said some things that are very remarkable. 1. He recognised the works that Chris Ngige, the governor before him did. Obi never dismissed Ngige instead he recognised his achievements before mentioning the ones he (Peter) did. 2. Peter Obi was not campaigning based on promises, instead as a former governor, he was campaigning based on what he did for them. He took time to mention the roads, schools, hospitals etc which he built or renovated for them. This is exactly, how to campaign for a second term or as a former governor or president. You don't campaign on promises but on your performance. Tinubu and APC, take note. 3. One striking thing here is that Peter Obi was at Ihiala while telling them what he did for them. It's a different thing that someone is on television saying that he did this or that but Obi was at the place in front of the indigens of Ihiala pointing at each of the projects while the people cheered in agreement. That speaks of a man who was sure of what he was saying. That speaks of a man who was sure of what he did. 4. Another important thing to note here is that Peter Obi did all of these things without borrowing and he also left a huge amount of money. Some people think that Obi just left money without working. The United States understands very clearly that without India’s data it cannot remain a superpower. It is only the United States combined with Indian data that can truly compete with China. Without Indian data, America cannot effectively compete with China. They understand this. But we do not. Our political class does not seem to realise it. India has one of the largest pools of data in the world, yet we are simply giving it away. We are handing it over for free. So, for me, there are three central things we must focus on. First, we must protect our data. Second, our people must live in harmony - secure, protected, and not fighting among themselves. And third, we must seriously compete with China in production and manufacturing. If we do these three things, nobody will be able to challenge us. But if we give away our data, fail to produce anything, and allow our people to fight among themselves, then we are heading for trouble. And my concern is that this is exactly the path we are currently on. Our people are being made to fight - one religion against another, one language against another, one caste against another. At the same time, we are not producing enough, and we are handing over our biggest strategic asset to the United States. The situation in the occupied part of Kherson region is absolutely catastrophic. The occupiers simply abandoned people in these terrible conditions. Without rescue, without water, just on the rooftops in flooded communities. And this is another deliberate crime of Russia: after the terrorist state has caused a disaster, it also maximizes the damage from it. Now we need a clear and quick response from the world to what is happening. It is even impossible to establish for sure how many people in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region may die without rescue, without drinking water, without food, without medical care. Our military and special services are rescuing people as much as it is possible, despite the shelling. But large-scale efforts are needed. We need international organizations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, to immediately join the rescue operation and help people in the occupied part of Kherson region. Each person who dies there is a verdict on the existing international architecture and international organizations that have forgotten how to save lives. If there is no international organization in the area of this disaster now, it means that it does not exist at all, that it is incapable of functioning. All the relevant appeals from Ukraine and our government are in place.

WATCH] On behalf of the African National Congress, I want to state that we a country of over 60 million. There are many people who come to our country and many come to our country to contribute to the wealth of our country and its progress. Many contribute positively in our country. There are people in our country who have taken it upon themselves to do things which the vast majority do not condone and this must not paint South Africans as xenophobic. Indeed we do have a challenge of illegal immigration in South Africa and it’s not a problem unique to South Africa. There are many country’s affected by this. South Africa is a signatory of the Geneva Convention and we must deal with this challenge within the perimeters of the law. We can’t deal with it with hatred. That is why government has adopted a program of action to deal with this particular challenge which the President has made a public announcement. We have called for law enforcement and calmness and follow the government’s Action Plan on dealing with illegal immigration. We have made it very clear as the ANC, we cannot and should not be associated with anything that amounts to hate crimes. In this particular instance the majority of South Africans are people of Ubuntu and humanity. Because we too would not be free without the solidarity and assistance of country’s such as Mozambique in the fight against apartheid. RFK Jr. is not going to ban antidepressants. What he is doing is opening up a conversation that our culture has avoided for far too long. A conversation about informed choice. That means honest discussions around side effects, long term outcomes, and what happens when someone decides they no longer want to take these medications and needs support getting off of them safely. Last week, a video of Ella Emhoff speaking about her experience with antidepressants went viral. She described spending much of her life on these medications while never being given a clear path off of them. Her story resonated with people across the political spectrum because this issue reaches far beyond partisan politics. Many of us grew up believing that the way to feel seen and understood in our pain was through diagnosis and medication. Now more and more people are beginning to step back and ask whether this framework has truly helped us in the long term. Carl Higbie

I strongly believe that about 3 of the proposed constitutional amendments seek to build a better future for Zimbabwe. From my view, some of the amendments will sincerely fix a broken system to create a more stable, unified, and prosperous Zimbabwe for everyone. It’s about moving away from constant political fighting and focusing on what really matters like development, unity, and a government that can deliver on its promises. Our country is stuck in a cycle of endless elections. As soon as one election ends, the next campaign begins. This means politicians are always focused on fighting each other instead of working for us. It creates division and stops long-term projects that would build a better Zimbabwe. The amendment to add 2 more years to the current 5 year term limit gives leaders in parliament and council more time to focus on real issues like fixing our roads, improving our hospitals, and creating jobs. A seven-year cycle means at least five solid years of work without the distraction of politics. It’s a “Sabbath for politics” so we can focus on development. Let's have a sober discussion on the merits and demerits of the term extension proposed amendment. #TogetherWeCan #TikabatanaTinokunda #SingabambanaSiyanqoba

“This problem we are facing as a country originates from our neighbors. It is a problem with history, with politics behind it, and with many unclear elements. For things to become clear, and to give people the direction toward the peace we need, because we truly need peace. I don’t know if there is any country that needs peace more than Rwanda. We desire peace, and we know very well what the absence of peace means, because we have lived through long periods without it. We know what we lost, including the lives of our people. So, when I hear discussions or statements suggesting that the current problem started after we signed and agreed on a peace process, and that somehow all the issues are Rwanda’s doing, beyond the fact that such claims make no sense, I sometimes ask myself: Was Rwanda created to carry its own burdens as well as the burdens of others? I do not accept that.” President Kagame.

[WATCH] ANC UPLOADED NAMES ON TIME AND SOME WERE KICKED OUT DUE TO TECHNICAL GLITCHES “We did upload all of the candidates, it’s important to assure our members, supporters and our community that participated in the candidate selection process that took place. We did upload all of our candidates from all the nine provinces and regions on time. The 28th of August was the final day of submission of the final list, why it took place then is because the ANC undergoes an extensive process of vetting and interviewing and holding community meetings, all of this take time. We are very robust in how we’ve improved our candidate selection process. The very last portion of the batch is when the system started kicking them out. That was before 5 o’clock. We are not discussing here a lack of compliance on the part of the African National Congress with regards to meeting the deadline but a batch of names on the uploaded list that were kicked out. We are asking the IEC to consider for submission all those candidates who had already been captured in the IEC system but were kicked out. The second thing we are asking is to get to the bottom of why the very last batch was kicked out. We are asking for an investigation and this will get us to the bottom of the issue. This ties in with the question of are we fighting with the IEC? We are not. We respect and continue to have the full confidence in the integrity of the IEC run processes. It continues being one of the most important institutions and hallmarks of our democracy and that is why we hope that a constructive engagement can take place and an investigation on whether there were technological challenges that were not foreseen” -ANC SPOKESPERSON MAHLENGI BHENGU
