After @appjsconf, we wondered what the shortest path to a public technical preview of React Native WebGPU would be. And I think we are there now.

@piaskowyk Are there any differences between how RN Skia handles 3D and react-native-filament? I am wondering if they are “competing” libraries or complimentary somehow?

@piaskowyk it‘s complementary. WebGPU give you access to your GPU and you can use it for Skia, threejs, llms, and so on. Filament is a 3D library.

Oh wow, exciting! Thank you so much for your unbelievable contributions to open source over so many years. Can you tell us a little more on the expected integration with transformers.js? Is it expected to work out of the box with the standard/main branch (v3 probably)? Any tests available to try already?

@piaskowyk We haven't looked into it yet but we will very soon make a technical preview available for early adopters/contributors
