I used Grok 4.6 to build a 2D agent simulation of The Office. Here are notes and observations on 4.6: It is a huge step up from 4.5 - both in the quality of visual outputs and in the breadth of work: personality, features, and finding usable assets for this project. The editorial content and writing were good - I like the "feel" of this model. One of the biggest wins for 4.6 is speed. The throughput (~80 tok/s) and latency are so good that it feels Composer-adjacent - something eric zakariasson called out in his writeup. That speed + cost + performance makes for a true "workhorse" model that's practical for both personal and work use. My goal was to simulate The Office through "agents" that behaved like the characters - including all of the neuroticism and idiosyncrasies that made the show so funny. I knew what I wanted artistically - I've built similar 2D apps with pixel art. I asked Grok 4.6 to research psychological modeling, pull character descriptions, find references for the cast, and assemble 2D sprites with the Universal LPC sprite sheet generator and some RPG tilesets I grabbed online. I rattled a brief into the Cursor mobile app late one night at the Cursor office and woke up to an MVP. Then I spent a day or so spamming cloud agents until the simulation worked how I liked. The cool part is that Grok did the simulation, art, and research on its own: - Every couple of minutes, each person scores a few possible actions and picks one. They pathfind around desks, work, grab coffee, talk at the cooler, hide in the annex, or end up in a meeting. - Click someone and you can inspect traits, needs, mood, relationships, and whatever they're doing right now. You can also speed time up, force Michael to call a meeting, or roll a random office event. - Each character has Big Five scores that bias what they tend to do. Needs like work, social, caffeine, status, and comfort rise over time and fall when they do something about them. - Grok reconstructed the layout from Dunderpedia (Office Wiki) and online sources - Michael's office and the conference room on the north glass, Pam at reception, sales and accounting in the bullpen, the annex to the east, restrooms and the warehouse down the stairs. - Grok helped me find a few sprite sheet packs to implement. I was surprised at how accurate some of the character sprites were - from hair color to clothing. The combination of a performant model, cloud workspaces, and high throughput made for a really fun devex - the amazing folks at Cursor and SpaceXAI make my job easier everyday. A huge shout-out to Brian Zhang, whose Notion hackathon project inspired this exploration.

so I started with FreeCAD, since i am a linux guy, haven't touched windows since the past 8 years. Also I did this online course from Uni of California Irvine on "building your hardware for your embedded and IoT projects" which had FreeCAD as the main CAD software. FreeCAD was free, and fun, yeah a bit buggy sometimes but gets the job done, since initially all the CAD work i had was just builidng cases, or mounts, or some light hobby stuff. So FreeCAD did just fine. Then I joined a company as a product engineer where I worked with LiFePo4 home energy storage battery packs and was responsible for all the modules of the pack (Cells, BMS, MCUs, Touch Display ) mainly the embedded system. Since I was the product engineer, I'd have back and forth convos with the CAD designers off the battery pack box/casing. I didn't really do any CAD work on that project, tho it seemed really interesting to me. They used Solidworks, and I installed windows for it(swallowing that was difficult); to do Solidworks in my free time which I hardly got. I tried Solidworks and I kinda liked it. But then I quit the job and started working on my SAAS products. A few months into it, it's not fun anymore, slowly getting started with CAD and eventually to electronics to hardware products. Now, I want to go about CAD. I'll be doing a 30 days CAD challenge increasing in complexity and will be sharing daily progress here! It was day 2; I designer a bolt and a nut. I'm going with Fusion 360 for now, coz i like the UI/UX and the hobbyist version is free. So yeah. This is so much fun, i completely lost track of time while doing it. Gemini on the side is alot helpful.

There are some very good technocrats in most Government ministries. They are there quietly doing their work, away from the limelight, away from the noise, just getting on with it. I don’t know who this lady is and had never heard of her before, but she certainly caught my attention with her detailed presentation on the planned improvements to Harare’s road infrastructure. She is clear, informed and confident. Harare Drive may finally get its “missing link” completed, although to be fair we first heard that back in February 2016 😅 There are also plans for the dualisation of Churchill Road, hopefully all the way through Gunhill and onto Enterprise Road, which from this presentation appears set to be dualised right up to the Shamva turnoff. I also learnt that the chaotic St Patrick’s/Airport Road crossing in Hatfield is earmarked for major improvement, with St Patrick’s Road set to fly over Airport Road. That junction can back traffic all the way to the SPCA roundabout during peak hours. Dieppe Road, from the Post Office Sorting Office to Coca-Cola Corner, badly needs attention too. Same applies to the stretch from the Sorting Office roundabout past Cranborne up to Churu Farm Flats in Rhodesville. That road needed dualisation about 40 years ago. Its a pain in the ass. This is why I have always believed many civil servants genuinely want to do their jobs professionally. It is often the political appointees who slow progress, frustrate implementation and drag capable people backwards. Anyway, we thank the flowering tree when we finally eat and enjoy its fruit. And we shall be grateful when the cattle are watered after spending the whole day being herded by a mad man. Ministry of Local Government and Public Works Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe

good morning, to all based builders. I have some bittersweet news to share today – I’m stepping away from my role as head of product for Base. it’s been an incredible run – fun, challenging, rewarding. I extend sincere gratitude to Jesse, Brian, and Coinbase for the opportunity to lead product for base and contribute to the mission of increasing economic freedom in the world. we landed serious impact, becoming a top-3 chain and launching industry-leading builder tools 0 to 1. we grew from less than a billion dollars onchain to $16B and counting. 10x faster, 100x cheaper, with thousands of teams building apps, contributing everyday to solve real problems for real people. alongside my head of engineering partner aflock and others, we scaled the team from 1 pod / 1 work stream to 5 pods / 10+ work streams. we ran the biggest onchain buildathon to date with $2M in prizes, helping builders go from idea to app to business. and we actually literally circumnavigated the globe, connecting IRL with builders from Νew York to Nairobi to the Network School, from Bangalore to Bangkok, Singapore, Manilla, and back again. but it’s a new day, and after real reflection, I believe my highest point of contribution in tech lies elsewhere. what I’m looking for and what base is looking for have diverged, and that’s okay. I remain bullish on base – the chain, the tools, the team, and most of all, the community – the most skilled, dedicated, passionate, compassionate builders in the space. huge shoutout to my team of all-star PMs and DevRels – Anika Raghuvanshi Elena Nadolinski eric.base.eth devrel.base.eth | Pat Hughes 🛡️ sohey.eth wilson.base.eth Youssef . will miss you, wish you all the best. it’s bittersweet to step away – Coinbase is a strong org and I’ve made incredible friends. the base team is truly S-tier and I’m sure will continue doing great work. I’ll have more to share soon about what I’m doing next, but I’ll leave it here for now. thank you again to jesse.base.eth, the base team, and especially the builders – without all of you showing up everyday, earnestly and enthusiastically, none of this happened. I’ll see you onchain 🫡

Man…this Erika Kirk stuff is dark….i didn’t wanna spend my time doing this but I had to investigate for myself after seeing everyone talk about it here. So here’s a piece of the story not many are talking about. Here’s a video of Erika from the early 2010s doing a voice over showing some of her work at the Center of Placement Antonio in Constanta Romania through Romanian Angels program. In the video she says the US military personally delivered gifts to the children and at the end she personally thanks Colonel Otto Bush III. 30 minutes away (this is key) is Mihail Kogălniceanu U.S./NATO military base which is co located at the Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport. There is a former translator by the name of Ana Maria Nuciu who alleges there was a brothel on the base where minors were trafficked and exploited. She identifies Colonel Otto Bush III by name and alleges minors were taken directly to his office for sex and other activities. She claims that despite having evidence there was no investigation and it was shut down due to jurisdictional arguments. She was even threatened with bodily harm by a man named Mark Boggs, who mysteriously disappeared from the base after she told authorities. So…Erika Kirk personally thanks Colonel Otto Bush III for bringing gifts to the placement center in Romania, and only 30 minutes away the same guy is accused of having sex with minors on the military base + the entire thing was shut down and no investigations ever happened? Here’s the crazies part: these articles and stories were reported in 2020 and 2024 that I could find. So there’s been chatter of this happening even before the news broke recently. This definitely isn’t evidence of wrongdoing by Erika but when you take into account all the other weird shit going on it really makes you wonder 🤔

vibe coding metahuman with threejs and codex: spitting FACS ok, i'll admit 3D modeling has a lot of depth, going from a cube to a full facial action coding system is.. a lot of work, but really it isn't all that hard to learn like some people want you to believe it took me about 10 evenings to go from scratch (no idea how to even model in blender beyond the famous donut) to a working rigged and shape keyed expression system the actual vibe coding parts are very manageable, i'm not even hitting any session limits the past week since codex is basically just reading the glb file and it writes the drivers to have a full animation system in a single turn after that i usually notice that some things don't look as professional as i like it to be, followed by codex sending my ass back to blender and telling me what i need to do to make it better so here we are, the expression system is still very very simplified, no micro expressions yet and i believe i will need probably 500+ shape keys to actual achieve realism, but why not? Doing the 52 ARKit expressions for this demo wasn't too hard either, just tedious and boring The final driver in the demo uses a mix of bone movements and blendshapes to smoothly animate the face I might mix up some terminology here but i usually do cause it's been like what, 10 days since i started? Guess next up i'll look into face deformation parameters and then we'll move to the fun part of skinning. Once the head/neck area works (hairs are also still missing), full body next and finally LOD systems and we can call it a day Demo (pls use a desktop i'm not optimizing the ui for mobile):

My fox shooting garden defending AI robot is finally done and WORKING! 🤩 (Don’t worry it only shoots 💦 water) After months of slowly moving forward with each part I finished the last step to train a TensorFlow model on the footage of the 🦊 fox I collected hours of footage 📹 with the fox roaming around my garden, from this I labeled around 2000 images with the fox by hand ✋ Honestly, I was quite skeptical training the model was actually gonna work, maybe this was partly the reason I avoided working on this until the very end. If I couldn’t train a model to detect the fox, this whole robot would never be able to function properly. On the flipside though, with no previous experience in hardware or electronics there was a bit of a learning curve and I didn’t want to end up labeling thousands of images, training a TensorFlow model, only to fail on building the hardware. As I started building, I realized that mixing hardware and software adds quite another dimension to debugging things. At times I wasted hours debugging code in my IDE, only to realize the issue was somewhere in the electronics. Furthermore, combining this side project with a full time job and a young family, is not always easy. It can be quite frustrating, to know you only need 4 hours of concentrated effort for a small task, having to spread it out across a week of 20min increments. Then, a few months into the build I noticed the fox had stopped coming to my garden, in fact one day, I recorded her walking with 3 cute little 🐶 pups, and the next day I saw her moving out of my garden completely. Did she know I was building a robot? I had this strange mix of feelings, happy my garden was safe from poop and digging, happy she was safe with her pups, but how was I gonna finish this project if my robot had no fox to detect? For sure they would be back next year, I figured I could postpone the whole thing until next winter, but I also knew it was gonna be much harder to pick up momentum if I did let it sit there for six months. So I decided to keep working, hoping the fox would reappear,.. but she never did. As I finished labeling the footage and started training my model, I could finally see the mAP results, quantifying the precision of my object detection model. It was measuring at 78% across different metrics on detecting my fox. I quickly ran the model on some of the video footage I got from my fox. Inference speed took a hit, but it did a near perfect job detecting the fox, even when she was deep down in the grass or wizzing past in a motion blur. It took me by surprise how well it worked. With the default model I had to drop my confidence threshold way down to 15%, to recognize the fox as 🦜“bird” in one or two frames, with my custom model it followed the fox all the way down to the back of the garden! Still this didn’t solve the issue of there being no actual fox in my garden and how was I gonna wrap this project in a short timeframe. I played with the idea of putting a fox toy 🧸 on an RC 🚗 car, or borrowing a dog to run around the garden to test. Friends suggested I run around the garden in a fox costume.. what a ridiculous idea. I wasn’t really feeling the idea of running around the garden in a floppy cloth fox 🎭 costume, but had a look anyway. I came across these self inflating costumes. This actually could be perfect. Since it’s inflated, it would hold its shape super well, making it much easier to label, train and be recognized by my robot. So I got the costume and shot a time lapse of myself as a fox walking around the garden. I labeled it to around 600 images. Ran the model training again and got a mAP result of 82%. This was even better than my real fox! At this point I knew this was gonna work. So here’s the final 🎥 video, just having some fun with it. I’ll update here whenever the real fox does come back. On a final note, I’m looking for (remote) jobs in these fields of AI now: - object detection - visual generative AI - 3D (nerfs + gaussian splats) So if you know anything let me know! My DMs are open 😊

*** Mega Parodius Sega Megadrive Update *** Lately I've been having some fun seeing how far we can push the Parodius game engine . This is not arcade accurate - just for testing, decreased bullet timers and upped the bullet count to see what would happen re cpu usage when things are made a lot busier ! Maybe something like this could be insane mode in the options etc. Since last update we are a lot more optimised under the hood . The C based sprite engine, particularly visibility checking was speedup , overall 25 % faster. Then re-wrote the sprite engine completely in 68k assembly , 30% faster again. It took about 3 days and 1500 lines of assembly , thankfully the gains were worth it. All these gains will be back ported to S.O.T.A also as its using the same sprite engine. Usage is around 19% of cpu per frame with a full sprite load - 33 % cpu left in the busiest frame currently . Parodius is using a write the sprite list every frame type engine , so priority and meta-sprite objects can be handled with ease albiet its still a bit slower than static allocation sprite engines such as the one in lufthoheit but this is a bit easier to code for in the long run. All collision checks are been done , we are using a spatial grid system to get the collision checks done faster than a brute force approach . To get to maximum sprite count destruction is disabled in the video. We hit 80 sprites onscreen in this sequence , the sprite counter is one the Left side. We use about 16 sprites in the top hud and water line , about 21 for player attacks / missiles / shots / options . Up to 35 bullets + enemies . No lazer usage here as the Lazers use zero sprites thanks to the raster tricks , this video is all about the sprites ! Improved the water line when the Catboss is active , as he is Sprites + Forground we are doing some tile rotation tricks eg bit scrolling to give the impression of parrallax at that point . Vector Orbitex has updated the stage 1 music again and has made things even higher quality , hes mixed pcm and fm channels together to create higher quality orchestral hits for example . Pyron has started converting assets from stage 2/3 , some amazing work there . Hes well ahead of me at present which is a good thing. Still lots of incomplete animations missing logic etc , its slow going with RL getting in the way haha and 2 other projects !! Still its fun !! #SGDK #SegaMegadrive #SegaGenesis #Parodius

Lewis is so open here, please please give it a listen, so generous of him to share this with us and so inspiring 🥺 "When I'm at the racetrack, I'm in an environment where you have to be really guarded and protected. And then in my personal life, I mean, you can have lots of fun and be very creative and interact with people in a different way." "But I think it's really important to be happy and in a good place, away from the tracks. Then you arrive in a good place. If you're unhappy when you're away from it, you're often unhappy at the races." "So there's things that I've learned away from the track, from like social media, from podcasts, like breathing exercises, just about how to take care of yourself. Because these are not things that I was taught at school. I don't think there's actually anything that I learned at school that has benefited me. That I can apply. There was literally nothing that, and I think that's ultimately probably a problem with some of the education system. It doesn't necessarily prepare you for life, in terms of how to handle the mental pressures." "You know, mental health is such a huge issue around the world. And I, for one, also have been massively challenged in that area." "So learning new tools along the way, away from the race, has enabled me to arrive better prepared, better equipped, more able to deal with the pressures, the incoming assault or negativity. And then turning that into positivity and channeling that into something that I love, into racing." "Having something to be able to focus on, that's the privilege, that's how lucky I am to be racing. I think everyone needs to find a balance in life. But if you can find something that you're passionate about, take all this energy and focus onto something, it could be boxing, it could be, it could be a sport, it could be what you're studying. I think that's what we need to encourage lots of kids to be doing."

These BTS backstage photo was Taehyung’s idea 🐯: “Today's Bangtan?" You think it's pretty? 🐯: The truth is...It feels a little awkward because it sounds like I'm complimenting myself. But we have some photographers at our company who are really, really good. 🐯: They took such beautiful photos at Hobi hyung's concert, and I post them from time to time too. They're the people who always take such beautiful pictures of all the members. I wanted to work with them because, I just thought having us stand in a straight line for "Today's Bangtan" every time was so boring. 🐯: Seriously, it was just too boring. 🐯: So I thought, "This is way too plain. It's dull." I suggested that every day we'd come up with a different camera composition. Even if the members say they're busy or can't be bothered, there are people there who'll take the photos anyway, so let's stop lining up in a row. 🐯: Instead, let's make them more fun. 🐯: We put our heads together and brainstormed, and I shared a few ideas. 🐯: For example, one of the simplest ideas was you know manga covers? Apparently recreating modern manga cover poses has become a bit of a meme these days. 🐯: So I thought, "Why don't we try something like that?" That's basically how it all started. 🐯: So I pitched those ideas. 🐯: From now on, I think "Today's Bangtan" will be a little different. 🐯: Instead of feeling so formal, polished, or just being a straightforward "Here's Today's Bangtan," we'll come up with fun concepts and shoot something different each day
