About a year ago, while interviewing Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, I asked a question about the unparliamentary and abusive language used by political leaders in the state. The CM responded by saying that if people like me were sent to jail, everything would be “set right.” Whether this was said casually or with an intent to intimidate journalists in the future is unclear. However, in a case I had no connection with, I was later taken to the brink of jail. Fortunately, because the law and judiciary still stand strong, the remand sought by the police was rejected and I did not go to jail. About a year ago, while interviewing Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, I asked a question about the unparliamentary and abusive language used by political leaders in the state. The CM responded by saying that if people like me were sent to jail, everything would be “set right.” Whether this was said casually or with an intent to intimidate journalists in the future is unclear. However, in a case I had no connection with, I was later taken to the brink of jail. Fortunately, because the law and judiciary still stand strong, the remand sought by the police was rejected and I did not go to jail.
