The police officer was seen performing CPR on the toddler after pulling the child out. 31-year-old Tanisha Richardson was arrested and is now facing drunk driving charges. The driver, a passenger, and the toddler were rushed to the hospital. ***Chief Garcia providing sound regarding a critical police incident – officer involved shooting that occurred this morning.*** The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a critical police incident-officer involved shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in East Fort Worth. On May 16, 2026, at approximately 4:15 a.m., FWPD East Division officers were on scene working a previous officer involved shooting near the 4200 block of Wiman Drive. While still investigating the shooting, a white SUV drove by multiple times at a high rate of speed. It appeared the driver was attempting to hit officers standing near their vehicles. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to stop. Officers pursued the SUV for approximately 15 minutes and eventually stopped the vehicle with a tactical vehicle intervention, also known as a PIT maneuver. Officers then approached the vehicle with their guns drawn and gave multiple verbal commands. The adult male subject did not comply with the officers’ orders and grabbed an officer’s handgun. At that point, multiple officers fired their guns and struck the suspect. Medical aid was provided by officers until the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived on scene. The male was pronounced deceased on scene. A Fort Worth Police Officer was injured during this incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. It is unknown at this point how the officer was injured. The officer is listed in good condition. Detectives from the Major Case unit were called to the scene and are continuing the investigation. Police are praising the "actions of the homeowner" who raced home to confront 30-year-old Jason Nichols with a shovel. Last month, Cook County Sheriff’s Police Sgt. Kevin Johnson was driving on southbound Interstate 90 near 16th Street when he noticed an overturned vehicle and stopped to help. On December 24, 2025, at about 4:40 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a call for service in the 100 block of E Camp Wisdom Road. The preliminary investigation determined that a female was attempting to jump off a bridge near the location. Upon arrival, Senior Corporal Timothy Griffin, #11958 and Police Officer Carlos Gomez, #12963 observed the female seated extremely closed to the edge of the bridge. Officers recognized the immediate danger and quickly approached the female to secure her. Officers were able to grab and hold the female by one of her arms as she went over the edge and was hanging above the S.R.L. Thornton Freeway. Officers immediately requested additional cover units as they maintained physical control of the female. Sergeant Randall Mays, #10285 arrived on scene and assisted Senior Corporal Griffin and Police Officer Gomez to safely pull back the female over the railing. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the female to a local hospital for treatment. Senior Corporal Griffin and Officer Gomez placed themselves in imminent danger without hesitation to ensure the safety of the female. Without their decisive and selfless actions, the female would have likely sustained serious injury or death. A week-old baby, not breathing. Any parent’s worst nightmare came true for a new Aurora mom last week. She was already on the way to the hospital and happened to see one of our officers stopped at a red light at Colfax and Sable. She quickly ran up to his car pleading for help. It’s second nature for our officers to do just that. Help. He began life-saving measures on the infant, performing CPR for nearly five minutes until Aurora Fire Rescue arrived to escort the baby to the hospital. Let that sink in. Nearly five minutes of CPR. Throughout it all, he remained calm, communicating with the child’s mom in both English and Spanish and assisting as an interpreter once medics took over. When they moved closer, they discovered the child partially submerged along the shoreline. NEW: Chicago police open fire on the driver of a wanted vehicle in Humboldt Park. According to police, the white Mercedes was possibly linked to a shooting that happened on Monday. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the man started driving before allegedly hitting a woman and crashing into a CTA bus multiple times. "The vehicle struck an adult female pedestrian in the street and continued to flee... [He] struck the bus multiple times with the vehicle and struck an unmarked squad car," police said, adding that a gun was recovered from the vehicle. "As officers attempted to stop the vehicle and place the driver into custody, one officer discharged their service weapon, striking the offender." The man was hit in the chest and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The family of the man claims he was getting food when he was "swarmed by officers" and says they thought police could have done more to de-escalate the situation. Just as the sun was setting last night Officers Castro and Ray were called to 30th and Valmont for a report of a vehicle that had crashed and was hanging precariously on a retaining wall. As they ran up to the car, they also learned that a 4-year-old child was in the back seat. Thankfully, with the assistance of Boulder Fire-Rescue , officers were able to get both the child and driver safely out of the car. The driver was charged with careless driving, reckless endangerment and child abuse due to the circumstances. Officers are investigating the possibility that the driver had a medical event. As in every criminal case, these charges are an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
