i love this so much in the age of ide shitifcation and bloat

Jesus Christ, thats Jason Bourne

I love your approach to programming. You are best teacher showing "yeah, you can use library, but if you manhandle it this works this way" And this is how you can really understand something fully in CP. Thank you for being there for us.

how do i reach this level of cracked?

I really love your videos because they are as much about the philosophy of life as they are about coding.

Long-form content? In this economy?

TLDR: Concepts >>>> Language/Tech Stack PS: Mind blown

this is so fucking cool

honestly feel like graphics api were a mistake. really all i want is a single "main dot shader" file or whatever, that runs compute on the gpu and you do whatever tf you want.

Irrelevant until you want to produce frames as fast as the screen can show them Yes yes I understand what you're trying to say

this was calming to just watch

This is a spicy take, I love it. It feels like the same argument as 'frameworks are irrelevant'. The real skill is in understanding the underlying principles, whether it's the graphics pipeline or the DOM!!

Wow this was an amazing video. Thank you for sharing, king.

GLSL to C, 🩷 it, shader is just a pure algorithm applied to an image, algorithm is the core, not so much the platform where it runs.

@agriffini I think what this demonstrates is that all graphics API can be replaced with PutPixel(int x, int y, unsigned int rgba)

Try to show this to a vibecoder

Wow! You just implemented a 3d animated graphic shader from scratch in 10 minutes. I think most programmers would take at least a week or two to do the same. Very impressive and informative!

cracked up the moment i heard operator overloading because i knew exactly where this was going lol

what do you have to do to get a video player like this?

I love that now 'normie' programmers are pushing against the graphics API slop. Anybody can be a graphics programmer, we really have a slop problem, similar to web devs.

@XorDev Awesome! More than twenty years ago I did such things with BMP file format and used Windows Media Encoder to combine frames into video. I'm missing those times, life felt much simpler back than

I just realized: you type faster than an llm, you do it AS you reason, generate audio and video 🤖

Such a smart guy. Easy to understand, easy to follow...

I noticed the image generated here is flipped compared to the original. Is that because of the shader and PPM pixel order being different?

@XorDev P3 version of ppm is 100% text based. Doesn't specify encoding though but it's ASCII-ish🤦♂️

If you just want to generate videos, you can feed frame pixel data into ffmpeg directly via a pipe No need to write any files

One of the greatest tweets

@iquilezles even used humans as shaders

Nice! this could actually be the first 15-minute lesson for intro shader programming (and the important one)! 🙂

I loved this post, it's easy to understand and yet you learn so many things. Made me remember the old days programming mode 13h on DOS. Decided to try and make a real-time rendering version using SDL2:

Beautiful! Thank you!

This is art

I love this one.
