Some people say Tucker Carlson has no solid basis for what he said yesterday. I think the exact opposite. He has a great deal of solidity, not least because President Trump himself has already spoken of destroying the mountain. And the only way to do that is with our nuclear weapons. Moreover, Iran has already made clear that it will not hand over anything that the US and Israel failed to obtain by military means. I imagine this also includes the nuclear program. Trump and his friend have few options precisely because, after the February attacks, the great majority of Iranians believe the country should not give up its uranium. The attacks only made things worse, not only by increasing support for the Iranian government, but also for uranium enrichment and the nuclear program. But let’s say Tucker Carlson is right, as I also believe. Is it possible to blow up a granite mountain with a tactical missile? Honestly, I find it very difficult. First, that warhead would have to be adapted into a bunker-buster bomb, and even if it were, these bombs are extremely limited in hard material like granite. They would penetrate only a few meters. Even the damage from that nuclear weapon, even at 10 kt, would be restricted to tens of meters. Would that be enough? I doubt it, and it would have to hit something important inside the mountain dead-on and generate secondary explosions. These Iranian bases are hundreds of meters deep and very well protected by the mountain and by ultra-Iranian concrete bunkers, their famous UHPC. Nothing looks simple, but I think Tucker Carlson is correct in the point he raised. This possibility is indeed being ventilated.

I don’t understand this "severe mental illness" thing. If someone develops anxiety after being assaulted, it makes sense. If someone becomes depressed after a loss, it makes sense. If someone develops an extreme need for control after growing up in chaos, we look for connections. But then we come to the experiences in the West labelled “psychotic”. Hearing voices. Feeling persecuted. Developing “bizarre beliefs.” Losing touch with reality. And suddenly, the curiosity stops. Instead of trying to understand these experiences in context, we explain them as illness. As a psychologist, I have the privilege of being invited into the experiences and lives of many of these people. And I honestly cannot think of a single time when their experiences did not make sense once we explored them together in light of their life story, their trauma, their diet, and their life situation. When you take the time to understand someone’s story, it stops being mysterious. Dr John Read

.Eddy Lazzarin ☀️ explains why “independent” AI evaluators can still be centralized if they all come from the same social and ideological network: "It's very easy to use the calls for safety and end up in a place where you have designed something that is perfect to subtly control an entire critically important industry under the pretense of safety." "You can have a distributed system with many nodes, but they're all under the control of a single actor. Decentralized means there's no single locus of control. They may superficially look the same." "If the independent evaluators are all from the same social networks, they all think ideologically similarly, they have the same politics, then you've actually just distributed control over essentially a single cultural unit." "Not a single shadowy room. It's through these networks. This is how control actually functions." a16z crypto

When Tom Jones and Little Richard Set the Stage on Fire Some performances are good. Some are memorable. And then there are the ones that make you wonder how the stage survived. The 1969 performance of “Good Golly Miss Molly” by Tom Jones and Little Richard is one of those moments. There is no feeling that either man is trying to play it safe. They come out with huge voices, huge personalities, and the kind of energy that makes the song feel as if it could run straight through the walls. Little Richard is impossible to ignore. He attacks the piano, throws his whole body into the music, grins, shouts, and seems to enjoy every second of it. He was never the kind of performer who stood still and simply sang a song. Everything about him was part of the performance. Then Tom Jones joins him. Jones has a different kind of power. His voice is deep, strong, and controlled, but he does not try to make Little Richard slow down. Instead, he meets him head-on. You can see the smile on his face, and that smile tells you almost everything. He is having fun. That is what makes the duet so enjoyable. It does not feel like two famous singers taking turns. It feels like two performers pushing each other. Little Richard gets louder. Jones answers. One leans into the next line. The other comes back with even more force. They laugh, move, shout, and keep the song going as if they have forgotten there is an audience watching. The voices do not always blend in the smooth way we might expect from a polished duet. And that is exactly why it works. Little Richard brings wild energy and theatrical flair. Jones brings control and sheer vocal strength. Instead of trying to make those qualities identical, they let them crash into each other. The result feels spontaneous. You can almost sense the question passing between them: How far can we take this? And neither seems interested in finding the answer. There is something refreshing about that kind of performance today. So much music is carefully produced and carefully presented. Every movement can be rehearsed, every note corrected, every moment designed to look effortless. This does not feel effortless. You can hear the excitement. You can see the physical energy. You can feel that both men are genuinely enjoying being on the same stage. And that is what rock and roll was supposed to do. It was not always about singing perfectly. It was about making people feel something in their bodies. Little Richard understood that better than almost anyone. He helped give rock and roll its wildness. Tom Jones brought his own enormous voice and presence into that world, and for a few minutes, the two simply let the music take over. More than fifty years later, the performance still has that effect. You press play expecting an old clip. A few seconds later, it feels strangely alive. The sound gets louder. The smiles get bigger. The energy keeps building. And suddenly you understand why some performances never really become old. They do not ask you to remember the past. They make you feel it happening right in front of you.

This week, as the preliminary hearing rolls on and we're all forced to relive his tragic murder, I find myself wanting to remember Charlie's incredible life. Our team put this CK tribute together, and they did a great job. I hope you'll watch it.
