"As you are aware that in 2022, GEO Pomona Waste Management signed a concession agreement, a 30-year concession agreement with City of Harare for waste management. So, we are talking about a range of waste that is going to be separated. It's a project component with various infrastructures are going to be we started with the encapsulation, landfills ,water treatment plant and sorting plant. Now, this is the last leg of waste management, this waste handling plant. It's going to produce 16 to 22 megawatts of electricity, and it will be fed to the national grid. The work is going to commence this month. It's going to take 18 months. The final position we are going to produce electricity to fed the national grid. This is a Chinese contractor. What I can say is this is the first project in Zimbabwe and in Southern Africa. By doing so, we are putting Zimbabwe on the map in terms of proper waste management."Dr Delish Nguwaya

“In cement, you can’t just think for the next 2-3 years, you need to think for the next 20 years…” 🎥 PPC Africa CEO Matias Cardarelli speaks today on why the company wants to build a new plant in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is an increasingly important market for PPC, with rising cement demand helping offset slower growth in SA and Botswana. In the year to March, PPC Zimbabwe’s sales volumes rose 18%. Volumes were up 25% in the first half. Growth was 12% in the second half, after a gearbox breakdown at the Bulawayo plant slowed sales in the region for two months. Revenue rose 20.5% to US$206 million, and earnings hit a record US$56 million. PPC received US$36 million in dividends from Zimbabwe, up from US$13 million in the previous year, “another record for PPC Zimbabwe.”

It is shameful that our president meets up with President of Zimbabwe and Mohamed Dagalo who have both committed atrocities against Africans. It is hypocritical to ignore genocide in Congo, Sudan and Zimbabwe and to focus our resources on fights in the Middle East and Europe. Ramaphosa has ignored the SADC report on the elections in Zimbabwe attended the inauguration of an illegitimate leader. He has ignored a crisis in Zimbabwe that costs South Africa billions a year.

The Baihetan Hydropower Station, a flagship project of China's 14th Five-Year Plan, is a cornerstone of the West-East Power Transmission initiative. This mega-project can send 30 billion kilowatt hours of electricity eastward in a year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 12.5 million households. And that power travels from inland province of Sichuan to the littoral Zhejiang in just 7 milliseconds.

Eskom is taking a major step to make electricity more reliable and affordable. The utility has received ministerial approval to split into separate entities. One will run power stations. Another will deliver electricity to homes. And the National Transmission Company will manage the grid. #TheSouthAfricanMorning #DStv403 #DStv194 #QuestionThinkAct

Zimbabwe and Iran signed 12 memorandums of understanding in 2023 to strengthen bilateral ties. We shall be visiting the country at the invitation of the Iranian Gvt to further explore business opportunities there. The 12 MOUs include plans to create a tractor manufacturing plant in Zimbabwe with an Iranian company and a local partner. The two countries also have co-operation agreements for energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications as well as research, science and technology projects. Both Iran and Zimbabwe have had sanctions imposed on them by the US. Thus cooperation between us is not just positive but imperative. We thank the Iranian Ambassador to Zimbabwe HE Amir Hossein Hosseini for facilitating this historic initiative.
