We want to take a moment to applaud the courage of our CAIR-Texas team. The very next day after Governor Greg Abbott issued his unconstitutional and defamatory proclamation, the CAIR-Texas team went to work as usual while signing off on a federal lawsuit and preparing to testify at a state Board of Education hearing in defense of student rights. Before that hearing started, security warned members of our CAIR-Texas team that a suspicious individual had entered the building and demanded to know if any CAIR leaders were present. We applaud the other civil rights groups, community leaders and interfaith partners standing in solidarity with CAIR-Florida and the Florida Muslim community. We also thank Florida law enforcement for providing security for these events. Palestine welcomes the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice today. The ICJ judges assessed the facts and the law. They ruled in favor of humanity and international law. We call on all states to ensure that all provisional measures ordered by the Court are implemented, including by Israel, the occupying power. This is a binding legal obligation. States now have clear legal obligations to stop Israel’s genocidal war on the Palestinian people in Gaza and to make sure that they are not complicit.
