Introducing my newest app, TethrX, made with Grok 4.5 to access Grok Build on your phone. TethrX connects to Grok Build running on your own computer, so you can start a task from anywhere, follow Grok's reasoning as it works, approve every command before it runs, and review the code it writes. Your code never leaves your machine. The public TestFlight is now open, and a demonstration is below. You pair your phone by scanning a QR code, either on your local network or from anywhere through Tailscale. From there TethrX streams Grok's reasoning, tool calls, command output and file changes as they happen, and asks your approval before anything runs. Plan mode lets you read the plan before the work begins. When a task finishes you can review exactly what changed. TethrX lists the modified files in your project, shows a diff for each one, and lets you commit or discard the work without leaving your phone. The app supports slash commands, including /compact and any skills you have installed, along with voice dictation, queued messages and reusable prompts. Sessions can be searched and organised into folders, and you can pair several computers and switch between them. Siri can start a task or tell you what Grok is doing without opening the app, a home screen widget shows whether Grok is working, and a Live Activity tracks progress on your lock screen and Dynamic Island. Every session reports its context window, token usage and cost, the app can be locked behind Face ID, and your computer is kept awake for as long as a task is running. TethrX requires Grok Build installed and signed in on your computer, together with Node.js 20 or newer. A single command starts the bridge: npx tethrx-bridge TethrX is open source under the Apache License 2.0. xAI is rolling out Skills on This new feature lets you create custom skills that Grok can reuse across conversations. Skills run inside Grok’s sandbox environment, so they can edit files, use your Connectors (Gmail, GitHub, Notion, etc.), run code, or perform any repeatable task you define. Once you create one, you simply tell Grok “use the [skill name] skill and do…” and it executes it instantly. You can also import skills.md files from other AI tools to bring them over quickly. It turns Grok from a one-shot chat tool into a more persistent, customizable workspace. This is a huge upgrade for anyone who uses Grok regularly.

Been using Grok Build these past few days, and the thing that really got me hooked is Imagine and Imagine Video. I built a full dinosaur encyclopedia site — every image, every video clip on it, all generated by Grok itself. One prompt: "build a dinosaur encyclopedia site, generate matching images and videos, add them in" — visuals, video, copy, layout, the whole thing done in one flow. No jumping between a dozen tools. It's perfect for building science and education sites for kids — dinosaurs, space, animals, history, geography… Grok generates vivid visuals and videos that make knowledge way easier to grasp, more visual, more fun.

Been using Grok Build these past few days, and the thing that really got me hooked is Imagine and Imagine Video. I took Grok 4 for a spin this weekend to build this game prototype. I used SuperGrok Chat to generate the initial game prototype and then brought it over to Cursor to continue coding with Grok 4 MAX. Grok 4 in Cursor is like a no-nonsense agent. Doesn't speak much, but delivers the goods. There were moments where I was rate-limited or stuck on a bug or two that I had to get other models to help, but otherwise it's a fast, reliable model to work with. This makes me incredibly excited for Grok Code to launch in August!

One thing I did which has been extremely cool is have Grok 4.5 in Grok Build CLI scan my project for all the UI/UX bugs it could find and make a detailed list. Got a couple hundred. Then had GPT 5.6 Sol in Cursor fix all of them by delegating subagents and managing the PRs. It’s been running for 3 days now and handled an insane number of them, and is still going. I’ve been checking in every couple hours and it’s just extremely good work.

It’s the same system already running inside millions of Teslas, now exposed through an API that actually works in the real world. Speed is the first thing that jumps out. Grok responds in under a second, which means conversations flow instead of stalling. That alone separates it from most voice AI people tolerate rather than enjoy. Language is the next flex. Grok handles dozens of them, switches mid-sentence, and keeps accents and tone intact. It sounds like someone talking, not software guessing. Then there’s capability.
