"You're not seeing that level of scrutiny [as with Biden]..." Yeah, no shit. Had Biden done any number of things Trump has - hundreds of things - the press would have treated it like fucking 9/11! It's always been like that. It's disgraceful. And it's maddening.

@patriottakes The Trump decline has been apparent for quite some time and now it's getting more difficult to hide yet MAGA will immediately pivot and talk about Biden...that's their coping mechanism for electing an orange, yam-titted and diapered dementia patient.

@MeidasTouch They swore he was “strong,” and now even the doctors are quietly sounding the alarm. Slow responses, confusion, secret MRIs… it’s all right there in the open. And this is the guy they want steering a nation of 330 million? How long do we pretend not to see it?

You are breaking the law, Gupta. Trump is not your patient, you have never done a history and physical nor a full ( or even partial) workup on him, yet you’re throwing out diagnoses? There are multiple federal laws you are breaking. I hope he surs your ass into the poorhouse and you get the max time in prison for each felony you just committed.

No doubt Trump is severely in decline. However, he was slow to react to someone in distress is because he doesn't give a flying flip about other people he never did, this behavior is more evident now that he is in mental decline and harder to hide and spot. imo

Democrats, one could now argue, went too far to avoid a leader with signs of age related cognitive decline - and then the Republicans, who'd laughed at Biden's age, went and elected the oldest president ever.

Folks on the Left pointing out Trumps losing a step and they cackle in glee..and I think they’re right… And I then point out l, cool we get JD Vance as president for several years…now he has advantge of incumbency…can still serve two more terms…and efforts to turn Vance into the Trump boogeyman will be far less effective… In other words, the left should be careful what they wish for…bc they might just get it…

Gupta: He’s the president, so let’s hope he’s getting the care that he needs. He does have a family history, importantly, of age-related dementia. His father had age-related cognitive decline… There’s a symmetry between some of these earlier signs in his case and what his father went through. But what are we seeing? Word-finding difficulties. Inattention—he loses his train of thought. Everybody is describing these speeches as meandering, covering 30 different topics in the course of, say, two minutes. He’s meandering. That’s inattention. Clear inability to express his own thoughts. Difficulty completing a sentence. Tangential speech. Of course, memory issues. He doesn’t know that he’s talking about Greenland even over the course of a sentence and confuses it with Iceland. When we think about his behavior, you know, he’s always been off-the-cuff—that’s his style—and people can say, well, that’s his style. But very serious people, from what I’ve seen on both sides of the political aisle, have called out the letter that he sent the Norwegian prime minister which also fits into these broader trends that we’re seeing that are concerning and cascading. The fact that he would even put a letter like that out in the public domain has caused a lot of alarm. Who does that? That’s not behavior that we would think meets a standard of decorum or even proper behavior. And again, I know he’s redefined the rules here, but he’s lashing out. People ask, is he showing signs of early Alzheimer’s or age-related cognitive decline? Perhaps. A lot of the symptoms we just talked about are consistent with those diagnoses. Again, we’re just observing what we’re seeing. Frontotemporal dementia—acting out, behavior changes, lashing out, acting unreasonable. One could say this is his core personality based on what we’ve seen over his entire adult life, but it’s getting worse. A lot of folks have pointed to that letter to the Norwegian prime minister as deserving a more thorough, transparent public assessment of his neurologic fitness, because that felt like it crossed the line of proper adult behavior. So I do agree—there’s been a trend line here. It seems like it’s getting worse across the dimensions we just talked about. And we haven’t even talked about his gait and what looks like psychomotor performance—his ability to walk down the steps of Air Force One or across a red carpet. He does seem to be walking gingerly. Hard to know what to make of that. But when you couple that with all these other signs of cognitive performance, it makes one wonder what’s actually happening behind the scenes.

Shapiro: When you have a president who is focused on making money for himself, that corruption leaves us all worse off because it means he’s picking favorites not based on what benefits the American people, but on what benefits him and his children. He’s picking sides in battles that ultimately are un-American because he’s putting his own profiteering ahead of the needs of the American people. That’s point one: his corruption has a real cost to the American people. Point two, though, is that what he’s doing seemingly is totally protected because the Supreme Court of the United States made one of its worst decisions, really over the last century, to give this president absolute and total immunity. And so he feels like he can do anything. So while he sits in that gilded Oval Office, he’s not focused on solving your problems, getting you health care, putting a roof over your head, or driving down your costs. Instead, he’s focused on trying to figure out how he can make a buck for himself and his family. And that is at odds with meeting the needs of the American people. So the first thing is his corruption has a cost to you, and the second thing is his corruption has been enabled by this Supreme Court, which has given him absolute and total immunity. That’s why we need real reform. That’s why we need anti-corruption laws at the federal level. I could make an argument that we need a 28th Amendment to our Constitution to bake in some stricter guardrails to protect the American people from a president of the United States who lacks integrity, ethics, and honor the way this president does. I think everything needs to be on the table. We need real reform.

🚨 NEW: Fox News’ Bret Baier just walked through Trump’s October blitz — Grand Island, Vandalia, Durant, Denton, Mobile — and his line says it all: “If anybody says he’s slowing down, he’s clearly not!” Bret Baier: “Brit, you know, he’s not on the ballot. He says, you put me on it in your head, and he’s trying to go to these stops, and he’s really making this effort, but he’s in a red state right now, Nebraska, traditionally red, and in tight races.” Brit Hume: “Exactly, Bret, and you can kind of tell the situation by the places he’s going. He’s not going to states where you’d consider them battleground states normally. He’s going to states that ought to be safe Republican, and in many cases are not.” “And I think he has to do this, Bret. You know, he’s got to get the base turned out, got to get the base interested, because that’s the core of the Republican support at this point. But at the same time, there’s this factor that as much as he may animate his base and animate Republicans, he really also animates Democrats.” Bret Baier: “That said, they’re saying that they are going to motivate the base in these places and maybe motivate the base in other states tangential to these states.” Brit Hume: “Well, yeah, his approval rating may accrue to him. Whether he can transfer to Republican candidates is another question. And it raises this issue. Would the Republican Party have done better instead of having him be at the front and center of everything to put those candidates at the front and center of things to a greater extent than they have so far?” “I’m not sure that they’re not going to do some of that. They may do a lot of it. And I’m not sure that what he’s doing isn’t going to work. I’m just saying it carries risks because he’s controversial.” “And of course, what he really needs and what his party really needs right now are some better results on one thing and one thing in particular, and that is fuel prices, because they feed into everything. And, you know, I listened to, for example, today to Martha MacCallum interviewing Abdul Al Saed from Michigan, who is a candidate who under normal circumstances wouldn’t have a prayer. And he was pounding away on fuel prices. The Democrats know they’ve got a good issue on that. And as long as they’re as high as they are, they’ll continue to, and that’s something that only some better results will overcome.” Bret Baier: “And speaking of results, we’re in the silly season of a million polls all at once. We’re now in the likely voters as we close in on November third. But be careful, you know, there’s a lot of polls that could be all over the map, and we’ve seen Republicans underperform, especially in the Midwest, three or four points in the past.” Brit Hume: “Yeah, they sure have, and I think that’s something we ought to have to be on guard for, that it looks like a six or seven point lead for some Democrat, maybe a one or two point lead if that, ‘cause that’s happened over and over again, and it’s happened too many times to ignore. You’re absolutely right about that.” Bret Baier: Yeah, Republicans overperform against where the polls are now.

Maddow: I also feel like there’s not very much about that that I don’t understand. Like, it’s the same everywhere. This is blond Berlusconi, you know what I mean? This is inarticulate Viktor Orbán, right? These guys are all the same. The authoritarian playbook is the same everywhere—they all do the same stuff. And so Trump having the worst approval ratings in his first 100 days in office of any American president in the history of polling—that’s a really important story. Trump facing demonstrations, large and small, every single day of the week in every state in the country—that’s a huge part of how we measure the temperature of the American people in response to him. And on the issue of immigrants—his chosen, his favorite scapegoat—his two favorites are immigrants and trans people. When you see the way the American people—in red states, blue states, rural America, cities, everywhere—have recoiled against the performative cruelty that Trump has demonstrated, particularly toward immigrants, I think that is not something he was counting on. I think it’s absolutely a limiting factor in what he’s going to be able to accomplish—both in his attempted overthrow and in more traditional political terms. And I just don’t think there’s anything more important than that in the country. I mean, seeing people in Tuscaloosa, Alabama—in Katie Phang’s hometown—seeing people in Boise, Idaho, in small-town Indiana, stand up and say, “Give him back. Hey, are you going to send that guy back to El Salvador? Are you really going to send that guy back? Hey, due process!”—that matters. They were really counting on the American people having a kind of bloodlust—about immigrants, about nonwhite people generally, and immigrants in particular. And the American people don’t have that bloodlust. In fact, what they have is empathy. What they have is a sense of solidarity. And a willingness to stand up, to hold signs, to shake their fists, and to tell people to do the right thing. And that—that’s going to be the story of this time in American history.
