Viksit Maharashtra 2047: Charting the Path Ahead! Attended the Viksit Maharashtra 2047 – Big Ideas Brainstorming Workshop with NITI Aayog CEO, B.V.R. Subrahmanyam organised by the Planning Department in Mumbai, today. The concepts presented at the workshop will serve as a strong foundation for the state’s long-term development plan. The ideas discussed will be compiled into a comprehensive vision for the next 20–25 years, with a firm commitment to ensure their effective implementation. It was emphasised that for India to achieve its goal of becoming a truly Viksit Bharat, Maharashtra must lead by example. This is why NITI Aayog has given special focus to Maharashtra. The consultation process is expected to bring forward the 'big ideas' required to drive Maharashtra’s growth and development. The discussions focused on creating more employment opportunities, improving infrastructure, enhancing empowerment and quality of life and strengthening institutional capacity and governance. Gates Foundation and Maharashtra: A Partnership for Innovation and Progress! ✨ It was a great pleasure to meet and welcome Mr. Bill Gates, in Mumbai, this morning. We had a very good discussion on varied subjects, including Maharashtra's initiatives and schemes for youth, farmers, the poor, and women, such as Lakhpati Didi and Ladki Bahin Yojana, which has contributed immensely to the economic upliftment. Also talked about the adoption of fast-changing latest technologies, and AI-driven initiatives across the State. Mr. Bill Gates shared that the Gates Foundation will partner with us to make Maharashtra malaria-free. We also discussed AI-driven advancements in health, agriculture, and infrastructure, along with dengue control and innovation city partnerships. I expressed that our vision includes digitalization in every sector and the establishment of a Skill University with the help of Microsoft to empower the youth with future-ready skills. A special initiative will focus on training 10,000 women in AI, fostering inclusivity in the tech revolution. Maharashtra is committed to becoming a model for digital governance and the right to service. I very much look forward to great collaborations for Maharashtra's social good ! Group Farming & Climate-Resilient Agriculture: The Future of Maharashtra! 🌱 Delighted to be a part of 'Satyamev Jayate Farmer Cup Awards 2024 Ceremony' in Balewadi, Pune with Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, thousands of farmers & champions across Maharashtra and team Paani Foundation. For many years, I have been closely observing the incredible initiatives of Paani Foundation. Aamir Khan, known for his perfectionism, initially started Paani Foundation in just 3 talukas, then expanded to 30, then 75, and today, the announcement for its implementation across the entire Maharashtra fills me with immense happiness and pride. Since 2015, Maharashtra has witnessed a Water Janandolan (people’s movement) through the Jalyukt Shivar initiative. During this, Aamir Khan and the Paani Foundation team stepped forward and volunteered. The initial planning and structures for various villages were developed, enabling 20,000 villages across Maharashtra to become self-reliant in tackling water scarcity. This Farmer Cup as the next step has greatly supported the group farming movement. Today, various farmer groups are actively working, and a new policy for group farming will be introduced. Additionally, the necessary assistance and support required for these groups will be provided. The Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjeevani Yojana, launched in collaboration with the World Bank, focuses on climate-resilient agriculture. The first phase, with an investment of ₹4,000 crore, was highly impactful, prompting the World Bank to approve ₹6,000 crore for the second phase. This phase has significantly improved and transformed farming practices. Additionally, villages that were initially not part of the scheme are now requesting inclusion, proving that this initiative has been immensely beneficial for farmers. The goal is to attract investment in farming, as capital expenditure will empower farmers and enhance their capabilities. Group farming will further benefit them by reducing costs and increasing production. Additionally, drip irrigation will be provided to farmers who request it, ensuring sustainable and efficient water use. Shared Maharashtra’s vision to attract ₹10,000 crore in AI investments, generate 1,50,000 employment opportunities, establish 6 Centres of Excellence and develop dedicated AI Innovation Zones across the state. Maharashtra is developing a ‘Compute-as-a-Service’ platform to accelerate AI research and innovation by providing startups and researchers access to 2000 GPUs. Encouraged innovators, entrepreneurs and technology leaders to choose Maharashtra as their preferred destination for growth and innovation. Beyond incubation and acceleration support, the State Government is also extending investment assistance through a dedicated ‘Fund of Funds’, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing a vibrant innovation ecosystem.
