Had the weirdest Tesla FSD experience today. Without any warning and with my destination kilometers away, the car just decided to park on the side of the road in a small intersection and it stayed there until I took over. At first I thought it was moving aside to... show more

@Tesla I would put money on that defender behind you having End-Outline Marker Lamps that were flickering on camera feed. False positive for emergency vehicle.

@Tesla The thing becoming sentient has gotten that tiny bit too far, so it didn’t want to drive you around anymore that day… 🤷♂️ Be nice and maybe it lets you have another hop tomorrow 😜

@Tesla 🤣

@Tesla My guess is emergency vehicle false positive

@Tesla I think the navigation was going to the right on the next street and the car was thinking that those parked cars were also going to the right (traffic jam) and just waited behind them.

@Tesla That’s because you’re paying money to be a tester of Tesla’s supervised FSD beta

@Tesla Yep, and providing valuable feedback in the process.

@Tesla In this presentation @aelluswamy talks about FSD debugging and interpretability and shows an actual chat interface for FSD — exactly what you need to pose the question 🙂

@Tesla Looks exactly like a pull over for an emergency vehicle 🤷♂️ Maybe it thought it saw one

@Tesla Maybe it needed a break!

@Tesla I've seen a YT video (of a known car-review guy, forgot his name). They took 4 vehicles - different models different AI HW - all 4 of them did this after "x"-miles (about one hour) They had FSD on, without a destination If you too had no destination: you just replicated the case

@Tesla I mentioned that my destination was not there 😉

@Tesla Interesting.. It must be a feature Tesla implemented (for still unknown reasons) 👀 I hope we'll get an answer soon 🙂 Thank you for testing (And enjoy) 😉

@Tesla You've arrived at your destination. You don't realize it yet, but the car did. If I were you I'd go back to the house right where the car parked itself. Your future awaits there.

@Tesla

@Tesla We had the identical experience and it was our first time with FSD so we were totally freaked out

@Tesla That happened to me yesterday. Going my normal way and all of sudden went to curb and stopped. I looked for emergency vehicle there were none

@Tesla Same thing happened to us. No, emergency lights, nothing to be noticed that should cause the behavior.

@Tesla I had this happen the other day too. Just pulled over like an emergency vehicle was coming, and just sat there for a bit. Was quite odd.

@Tesla Because you aren't paying attention. Looking at your phone or busy doing other things Instead of eyes on the road and supervising the car.

@Tesla Got tired, needed a break lol.

@Tesla check the rear view camera footage. It could be that the problem with the flashing headlights

@Tesla Yep, I'd love it if the car would just let us know why it did what it did. Bird? Shadow? Tired?

@Tesla I would never trust a car that does that, without knowing the reason. And it parks on a T-junction? Wtf. No thanks, one more reason to stay away as far as possible from this crap. FSD doesn't belong on roads.

Most likely the vehicle approaching behind you has LED lights that strobed like an emergency vehicle due to LED flicker rate versus camera frame rate. FSD pulls over for what it sees as an emergency vehicle coming up behind you. There are many videos like this and I have experienced it several times myself. Also can occur if a vehicle is coming up on you from behind very fast even without LED lights. Not excusing it, just explaining what it likely is.

@Tesla Soon with Grok integration you’ll beable to ask that. I had this also yesterday in my latest video…

@Tesla I am willing to bet that it was a mapping or address issue. Not the FSD or the car per se.. She does weird things, but that isn't one of them, so far.

@Tesla It got tired of your bs, try again tomorrow

@Tesla Steven, you probably got the 2027 model with the time travel module. It knew that if you continued you’d have gotten in an accident. 😉

@Tesla It has happened twice to me. I’m looking around for an emergency vehicle and nothing, just decided to pull over.

@Tesla I had this happen to me yesterday. I thought it must have seen something that looked like an emergency vehicle but I couldn't see anything.

@Tesla

@Tesla @elonmusk the car should advise why it is pulling over suddenly, especially if it’s for an oncoming emergency vehicle

@Tesla This latest update treats shoulders like driving lanes (AGAIN) This issue comes and goes with each update. My car constantly tries to ride on the shoulder on certain residential streets, while camping in the left lane on highways.

@Tesla That was a mandatory break for control computers, which was introduced by a European Union regulation.

@Tesla A "Why did you do this" feature would be awesome. My car has done similar things a couple times where it just slows to a stop or pulls over for no apparent reason.

@Tesla It seems like you are in Europe. Walking is mandatory by regulations. Parking less then 1km away from your destination is finable up to 5000 euros.

@Tesla Je zat in het strafkamp omdat je weer fietsers asn het beledigen was

@Tesla I had the same thing on 2 separate occasions
