Structural racism by the Dominican Republic against Haiti is deeply rooted despite the two countries sharing an island, a history of anti-colonial struggle, and both having Black-majority populations. During the current crisis, the DR is deporting Haitians while allowing the US and others to use their country as a landing base for those being evacuated from Haiti.
