ᴀ ɴᴇᴡ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ — ᴊᴏɪɴɪɴɢ ᴠᴇʀꜱᴇ Over the years, I’ve worn many hats in the art world: artist, non-profit director, curator, publisher, gallerist, and advisor to collectors and institutions. Though photography has been a throughline in much of that work, my interest in contemporary art more broadly reaches far and wide, continually pulling me toward practices that stretch perception and redefine possibility. While I’ve always been drawn to physical art – painting, mixed-media, artist books, etc. – my curiosity for digital art runs just as deep, and I've long been fascinated by the evolving ways we create and engage with art. Digital art has an unexpected tactility. Even when encountered on a screen or in ephemeral gallery installations, it often carries a material presence that’s hard to explain, yet deeply felt. That sense only intensified after 2020, when I became immersed in the world of web3, and blockchain’s implications for visual art really clicked (digital authenticity, ownership, provenance). New ways to make and to be a part of art also emerged during this time. Since then, I’ve been continually challenged and inspired by this new generation of artists, like witnessing a sort of on-chain Renaissance. Naturally, I started collecting and participating when and where I could, and my perspective and appreciation have only expanded and grown. As the space has evolved over this time, so too has a clear need: a dedicated, art-focused home for digital art, one that serves both seasoned collectors and the newly curious, cutting through noise with clarity and care. Most big platforms have drifted away from this vision, where the art itself can feel like an afterthought. verse has always stood out to me with a quiet confidence and a deep commitment to a more intentional, curated, artist and collector-centered approach that continues to resonate. Over the past year, I’ve naturally gravitated to using the platform more often – first, for discovering artists through gallery releases, and more recently through the thoughtful rollout of the beta secondary marketplace (the dedicated artist portfolios and organized gallery programs are a total game changer!). There is something here that not just works, but feels necessary. Which is why I’m thrilled to share that I will be joining verse to help to shape what comes next. I’ll be leading various secondary market efforts, including auctions and art advisory, as well as contributing ideas to help refine the product and collector experience as Verse grows into THE platform for digital art. The team is full of some of the hardest-working and most passionate people in the space, and there’s a commitment to preserving a focus on art while always buzzing with the possibility of what else can be built. On Namjoon getting hooked to museums because of Taehyung 🗣️ During your US tour I heard you two visited an art museum in Chicago. 🐯 An art museum in Chicago? 🐨 Don't you remember from back then? That was the first art museum of my life. 🗣️ Oh, really? 🐯 Oh, was it? 🐨 Was it 2018? Art comes before morality and politics because art emerges directly from life itself, while morality and politics arise later as attempts to regulate, tame, or justify that life. “You can put all the new facts into peoples minds. But if they feel the same way, they will use them for their ends.” “The primary fight, I think, is on people’s moral valuations, and even more so on what precedes that, on the ground of morality in aesthetic appreciation and taste, how you form people’s tastes.” “If i can introduce to the world, new human types, new desires and ways of life, which I get from history and literature. But many intellectuals always forget this step: you have to transfer that through a modern possibility prism. And humor is your only path to jolt an audience and show something fundamentally new.” “At some point you have to make your own books, movies, videos, and so on. It can’t just be tweets and streaming. This New York thing, for example, it’s been going on for what? I’ve known about it for at least two years now. I recorded this THREE YEARS AGO today!!! I posted this video hours before the “2020 COLLECTION” drop on NiftyGateway — a record breaking sale that caught the interest of Christie’s and helped set up that historic auction three months later… It was clear to me at that time that people were starting to look at digital art in a very different way and that this process is actually not new, but something that other mediums had also went though where they were first considered just “craft” and then finally “art”. Since then I have been fully blown away by the amount of progress in legitimizing digital art that has been made. The strength and depth of this community continues to amaze me and I am humbled and honored to be small part of it along side so many innovative and inspiring artists. 🙏🙏🙏 That being said we are still VERY, VERY early into this journey of digital art being appreciated and respected and we have so much work to do and areas to explore. Our world is getting more and more digital so I can’t wait to see where things go from here as new tools, techniques and possibilities for expression are literally being invented everyday!!!! tldr; KEEP FUCKING PUSHING. 💪❤️🙏

If you grew up playing SNK games, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Those incredible character illustrations? That was Shinkiro. From 1990 to 2000, he defined the visual identity of Neo Geo — Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown, The King of Fighters, Metal Slug… So many legendary titles brought to life through his art. His illustrations didn’t just promote the games — they gave them soul. Later, he moved to Capcom and continued his legacy, working on GBA Capcom titles, CAPCOM VS SNK 1 & 2, and even contributing artwork to Street Fighter V and VI. A true legend in fighting game history.

I didn’t draw this with my hands. I drew it with my leg 🦵 🎨 🎩 for the Degen 🎩 Every line, every color, every shape was created through patience and determination. This piece is a fusion of geometry, rhythm and digital culture a character built from fragments of color, music, and crypto symbolism. The faceted shapes represent how different experiences and struggles come together to form identity. The top hat represents confidence, the music notes represent creativity and freedom, and the character represents the believe in art and the Bitcoin chain symbolizes the modern digital world we are living in. Flying back from Charlotte, I thought a lot about this weekend.. beeple was our Willy Wonka and created an amazing art factory event…. But it was more than an event. It was a small peak into our future.. My takeaway is this … We are not the same as traditional art yet we are very much connected … This event was a story in two parts… The first part was embracing the classic. A nod and ode to the museum/gallery exhibit… Part two was a chaotic immersive experience that was truly beautiful…. I think for me, what I get now, is we don’t need to run away. We need to embrace it all…. Art is art. The more we push our boundaries of a new creative technological renaissance we will bring in others who will see our vision… It will take a while. It won’t be easy. Last night was the first time I felt this. The first time I felt that we have a chance to be different but stay enough the same… I can see it now, 25 years from now at an underground extremely popular rave. The newest hottest artists enters wearing a hoodie that you can barely see their face except for the lollipop stick. They will emerge in the middle of the room rising from the floor. They will start to play a new score they composed that will include art they created with new advanced AI. They will create the art live in front of everyone. Suddenly, from the ceiling virtual little notes will fall and the people will have AR implants seeing these beautiful Vistula notes fall all around them. They will grab them with their hands and they will than use these digital notes to be able to buy the art and songs the artists is playing live. They will share the virtual notes with each other and save some for later. The artists will finish his work and disappear into the floor he came from. The crowd will go home and see if they were lucky enough to grab a golden note that gives them a special 1/1 song and art from the artist. The winner will than post it on socials, getting instant fame where that they can than tokenize the fame for themselves… the digital art renaissance is in full swing! That is the start of what we saw last night…. See, no one can see the future but we can live in it and not even realize we’re in the middle of it … Think about the changes you can make for this future and what footprint you can leave behind…. Think about how much time we really have to make any difference at all… This is how we build!

Here is a breakdown (kind of) how I did this effect for live2d Vtuber model art. I’ve drawn the lips, you would have to separate top and bottom though and added a cyan layer which will be my mask and the mask for the rigger to clip on. Then I added a shiny add layer on top and used the cyan layer as a mask, just to test the effect in procreate, you would have to delete the black/white procreate mask for the rigger because this can cause issues. If you have any questions feels free to ask. 💕
