Owner said they’d cover the tab but “y’all can go.” She’s now blasting them online, calling it humiliating and demanding the internet “do your big one” on the bar for shaming a mother on her husband’s first Father’s Day. But here’s what she says the owner actually told her: It wasn’t for breastfeeding. It was because her breasts were “exposed for prolonged periods of time.” She even mocks the idea that she drove 30 minutes “to just hang with her boobs out.” So which version is it? Public breastfeeding is protected in Texas — and it should be. But is there a difference between discreetly feeding your baby and refusing any cover in a restaurant while turning it into a scene? Businesses have the right to set basic standards for their dining room. Families have the right to enjoy a meal without it becoming a protest. Parents: would you have covered up to keep the peace and enjoy lunch as a family… or refused and made it a viral standoff? Drop your takes. And if you’ve got real stories about public breastfeeding etiquette (the smooth ones, the awkward ones, the “I can’t believe that happened” ones), share them. I’ve got a few of my own on this topic.

Every single time I talk about the benefits of breastfeeding, I get comments saying “you’re mom shaming, not everyone can produce milk.” Here’s the truth: most people who formula feed CAN produce but CHOOSE not to. Exhibit A right here. This woman refuses to breastfeed and went as far as getting a medication to purposely dry up her milk. She even goes as far as telling women to avoid doctors that try to convince you to breastfeed. Just as a reminder, breastfeeding decreases your baby’s chances of: Autism Respiratory Infections Ear Infections SIDS Asthma Childhood Obesity Eczema And so much more. It’s not a doctor’s job to validate your choices. It is their job to tell you the risks and benefits of every choice and for you to make the ultimate decision. For me personally, I want to ensure my baby has the best chance at a healthy life, so I will be giving it my all to breastfeed.
