What a beautiful calf. How is momma doing or do they trust you with everything? I'm used to either and I pray this sweet baby is right as rain asap 🙏

Mama’s a little stubborn. But that’s understandable since she just gave birth. Little guy is feeding from a bottle for now. Now it just takes time

Hopefully a tube/bottle feeding or two will spark him up. I guess it's difficult to immobilize the mom with horns like that, not the easiest to get into a head gate. Are your cattle quiet enough that they'll stand for some feed & let you nurse their calf on them?

Unfortunately no, their horns make it complicated to put it mildly. Where bottle feeding him for now with his mother nearby. We’re hoping it gives him enough energy to start standing on his own so he can feed directly from her.

That'll be difficult if she can't be restrained in some manner. But a smaller pen & a calf with some milk in his belly hopefully will do the trick. Walking away for awhile to let Nature sort things out always helps.

He is going to be a miracle

We had a Jersey last fall that we got to late ⏰ with colostrum. She couldnt stand for weeks, infections, swollen joints. Didnt think she would make it. Cared, prayed. She stood first time after 4 weeks. Now she’s a delight. Pretzel. God is good. Dont give up

They are. But his leg muscles are really stiff. We’re working them
