Damn that is genius. I loved Lex’s theme - perfect for his level of quirky villainy (and I appreciate how it becomes more complex and tragic toward the end). But I still never picked up on it being a mirror of Superman’s theme. 👏🏾

Mizutsune themes for me GU >>>>>>> Rise > Wilds Unfortunately the Wilds theme just doesn't have the energy that I fell in love with the GU theme and it has oddly few instruments at play. Rise theme isn't much better but the vocals push the theme to a very different direction

The answer is Gladiator. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard created “Now We Are Free” for Gladiator almost by accident. Ridley Scott wanted the ending to feel spiritual and emotional rather than triumphant, so Zimmer experimented with softer melodies instead of a traditional victory theme. Lisa Gerrard then improvised the haunting vocals in her own invented language. She sang purely from emotion, treating Maximus’ death as a peaceful reunion with his family rather than a tragedy. Ridley Scott loved it instantly, and the song became the emotional soul of Gladiator.
