A building under construction at the premises of the Architectural Engineering Group at Roman Ridge has collapsed, trapping several workers beneath the rubble. Emergency response teams from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed to the scene and managed to rescue about 14 construction workers, who were found in critical condition. The injured have been transported to the 37 Military Hospital and the Ridge Hospital for urgent medical attention. Rescue operations are still ongoing as authorities work to locate any remaining victims.

Queens: College Point Blvd & Avery Ave, four people were tragically killed and two others were left fighting for their lives after a 4-alarm fire tore through a building at 44-49 College Point Boulevard in Queens just before 12:30 p.m. on Monday. FDNY arrived to thick, heavy smoke pouring from the windows, where an elderly woman stood trapped, waiting for someone to rescue her. Firefighters rushed in, took a portable ladder, and pulled her out of the burning structure to safety as fire spread rapidly across multiple floors, filling the building with thick smoke. As New York’s Bravest battled the fire and searched for victims inside the burning structure, a steel wall suddenly collapsed on them, trapping two firefighters inside. FDNY rescue teams pushed through dangerous conditions and pulled them out alive. They were taken to the hospital in stable condition. Victims were pulled from the building as the fire continued to burn. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were rushed to nearby hospitals in critical condition. More than 230 firefighters and EMS personnel responded, working through intense conditions to get the fire under control and search for anyone still inside.

We visited the scene of the explosion which occurred at about 7.44 pm yesterday, 16 January 2024 in Bodija, Ibadan. This unfortunate incident resulted in death and injury to residents in the vicinity and also affected properties. We have already deployed first responders and all relevant agencies within Oyo State to carry out comprehensive search and rescue operations. These operations will continue throughout the night. Earth moving equipment, ambulances, emergency lights, and security were deployed to the scene of the incident. The wounded and injured are being treated and moved to public and private hospitals within Ibadan. Medical personnel are on standby at these hospitals to provide all needed assistance to the injured. We have visited UCH to see some of those injured during the incident. In total, we have 77 injured victims so far, most of whom were treated and discharged and 2 fatalities. May their souls rest in peace and may God give their loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I have directed that the medical bills of all victims be covered by the government. We will also be providing temporary accommodation for those whose houses were affected and ensuring that they are supported to rebuild their lives. Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing. All those found culpable for this will be brought to book. I urge all residents to please call 615 for any emergencies they may be experiencing at this time and to remain calm and stay away from the immediate scene of the incident to allow rescue operations to be carried out without interference. We are grateful to the first responders, security personnel and all those who are at the scene to assist with the rescue operations as well as the medical personnel taking care of the injured. Please say a prayer for those who have been affected by this disaster as we continue with the rescue operations.

China Coast Guard Rescues 13 Philippine Crew Members After Cargo Ship Capsizes At 1:34 a.m. on January 23, China Coast Guard received a report from the Maritime Search and Rescue Center of Sansha City, Hainan Province, that a foreign cargo vessel had capsized 55 nautical miles northwest of China’s Huangyan Dao, with a total of 21 Philippine crew members on board. China Coast Guard immediately dispatched two vessels to the site for search and rescue. As of now, 13 crew members have been rescued, and rescue operations are ongoing.

Deeply pained and saddened by the tragic loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction warehouse building near Brace Bridge in Taratala, where several workers got trapped beneath the debris. So far 21 people have been pulled out of the collapsed structure, out of which 18 are injured and 3 people have lost their lives. Words fail to express my sorrow for the precious lives lost in this tragedy. My deepest condolences go out to their bereaved families. The State Government stands firmly with them in this hour of unimaginable grief and we will extend all possible support to them. Rescue and relief operations are currently being carried out on a war footing. The Army, NDRF, SDRF, Kolkata Police and KMC are jointly conducting the rescue operations to ensure every trapped worker is brought to safety as quickly as possible. I pray for the quick recovery of those who got injured. I have instructed the UDMA Department to closely coordinate the entire operation. MoS Dr. Indranil Khan is already present at the site and is personally supervising the ongoing rescue efforts. I am personally reaching the spot right now to take stock of the situation on the ground. Please keep the affected families and the rescue workers in your prayers.

The accident of a passenger boat belonging to Neelkamal Company in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai is deeply tragic and unfortunate. As per the information received till 7:30 pm, 101 passengers have been safely rescued. As per the info given by Navy’s Vice Admiral Sanjay Jagjit Singh, 13 persons have been declared dead by Navy doctors, including 10 civilians and 3 Navy personnel. My tributes to the deceased. We stand in full solidarity with the grieving families during this difficult time. 2 injured passengers are under treatment at the Navy hospital. I pray for their speedy recovery. Given the gravity of the situation, rescue operations were immediately initiated by the Navy, Coast Guard and Mumbai Police. Rescue operations include 11 Navy crafts and 4 helicopters. The next of kin of deceased will be given a financial assistance of ₹5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
