Constitutional crises don’t always begin with tanks in the streets. Sometimes, they start with silence. They didn’t begin by gassing Jews in 1933. That didn’t Jaden until 1941. It started with stickers on shop windows. Then boycotts. Then laws. Then camps. Each step made the next seem tolerable, justified, even. No single act was shocking enough to trigger mass resistance when compared to past acts. People waited for the “big moment” to stand up. It never came. “You tell yourself it’s not that bad. You don’t want to make trouble. And by the time it’s unmistakable, it’s too late. Everything’s changed. And all you did… was nothing.” The world still looked normal. The shops were open. People went to concerts. The forms of democracy were still there, but the spirit had vanished. Look around. We’re not waiting for the crisis. We’re living in its early chapters. And history has already written how this story ends when good people say nothing. Please remember this.

Benchmark founder Andy Rachleff on what most founders get wrong about product/market fit “When you’re starting a company, you need to develop a value hypothesis and then a growth hypothesis. The value hypothesis consists of the what, the who, and the how. What are you going to build? For whom is it relevant? And what’s the business model? That’s the how.” Andy believes the core of product market fit is proving the value hypothesis. And the mistake most founders make is iterating on the “what” variable, which he defines as the inflection point in technology you’re building on: “Great technology companies are created by virtue of an entrepreneur recognizing an inflection point in technology that allows them to build a new product.” When Andy was building Wealthfront, this inflection point was brokerage APIs and ETFs. Recall a basic lesson from Nietzsche, that every philosophy is basically a confession. He suggested that we don’t begin with reason. We begin with fear, pain, desire, or resentment. Then we build arguments to justify what we already want to believe. That’s one of the main insights in The Genealogy of Morality. Nietzsche also suggests that what we usually call an ad hominem—criticizing the person instead of the argument—is not always wrong. If ideas come from their personal psychology, then understanding the person can help explain the belief. Of course Nietzsche overstated this. And you can turn the logic back on him. You could say, fine, you are making an argument about how people make arguments, so what does that say about you? Fair enough. But the basic idea is useful nonetheless. A lot of grand ideas, especially the ones about human behavior, come from something personal. So if you want to understand a belief system, look at who holds it. Not just what they believe, but why. Now, this doesn’t apply to everything. When you’re talking about physics or astronomy or whatever, there probably isn’t some deep emotional backstory behind an argument about the distance between stars. But when it comes to human behavior, there’s usually something underneath. People don’t build these big intellectual systems for no reason. There’s often a personal story hiding in there.

If there’s one profound lesson life has taught me, it’s this: when certain people and relationships truly matter, we must rise above the limiting boundaries of right and wrong. Our ego often traps us in the narrative of “I’m right” and “they’re wrong.” While this might feel justified, being “right” in our conclusions doesn’t always mean we’re right in our approach. Sometimes, the way we handle the hurt can deepen the divide instead of healing it. Roman Reigns has always been one of the most respectful, professional people I’ve known in this business. He’s a family man and someone who’s done a lot of good for a lot of people. WWE and UFC are under the same company. If one of the biggest stars in WWE is invited to a major UFC event, it shouldn’t surprise any of us that he’d attend. Going to an event doesn’t suddenly define someone’s character or mean we know everything they believe. The bigger issue is how quickly we’ve become to judge and tear each other down over things that have nothing to do with how we treat people. There’s already enough negativity in the world without adding to it. Happiness is a choice. The more we focus on becoming better ourselves instead of criticizing every decision someone else makes, the better our own lives become. Sometimes the biggest changes begin when we look in the mirror instead of looking for someone else to blame. And that’s the last bite. Feed Me More!

Just listen to this interview from 2014. Forget the fact that El-Rufai was boasting here to defeat Jonathan because they were already sure of backing from the US State Department. Actually, let’s not put the U.S. State Department aside, because that’s actually the main problem here. The problem has never been about a responsible leadership or otherwise, it’s always about what the U.S. wants. If you changed the date of this interview to 2026 and replaced Jonathan with Tinubu, it would still be relevant. So at what point do we begin to trace this problem to its root cause? Because I’m very sure that if we don’t address this problem of foreign government interference, 10 years from now, this interview would still be relevant, no matter who the president is. At what point do we understand that for Nigeria to work, it has to be a leadership the people of Nigeria themselves choose, not one decided by Washington or Paris? At what point do we start ejecting leaders we didn’t choose ourselves and stop waiting for Amereka? At what point do we agree for an internal revolution to protect the candidates that we choose and not relying on the foreign controlled and corrupt Nigeria system? At what point to we say enough is enough to the scam that is electoral democracy? Just asking.

What happened with 'Kagemusha' happens always when I write: I begin with a blank piece of paper and I have the idea who the characters are; later, their personalities take over anything I might want to do. I end up writing not from my own will, but from theirs—they come alive as I write and make me do things that I couldn’t have planned. You could even say that in the final scene of 'Kagemusha', when the main character falls into the river and floats down the stream, I’m going with him. He has made me reach that point. If you wrote a script with a set structure to create a certain kind of feeling with the audience, the audience isn’t stupid enough to be taken in by that. If your characters are to be real, you have to let them take over. What's important to the development of 'Kagemusha' is how the main characters react to those battles. I taught my Primary 2 students magnetic fields, and how they help us determine magnetic north and bearings using a compass. At the later half of the class, the students did a small experiment that used a magnet and compass to test what we learned. This is what Nigeria can take away from this: 1. LANGUAGE: Using Chinese to explain magnetic fields was so easy for them to understand, and took less than 4 mins. They never have to worry about understanding the grammar or remembering new vocabulary if another language was used. Language skill is not for everyone, just like technical and creative skills. While you or your son can learn a new language fast, others might be more technically inclined. Nigeria should use native languages to teach primary school children right from the first day in school. With many native languages, autonomous regions with different official languages will be ideal, with an option for international classes which are more English focused. 2. CURRICULUM: Unless we are really oblivious, there is no way a Nigerian primary 6 student can compete with my primary 2 students. These are kids that first came to our school so tiny and sometimes crying, many of them don’t even know how to write their names. A Nigerian taught them most of what they know today in less than 2 years, and because we have a curriculum that is modern, targets what the students really need to know, and its always modified to reflect their realities, they have acquired so much knowledge about how the world around them works like electricity, engines, space, aerodynamics, mechanics and environmental protection in a short time. What they are learning is directly linked to where their economy is headed, so by the time they are in university, they can easily understand advanced practical and theoretical knowledge and be useful to their economic development after graduation. Our curriculums in Nigeria are old and mostly useless to the growth of our economy, so let’s do the needful. Don’t wait for miracles to change them for you. We must demand this change. 3. GROUP WORK: Students are encouraged to work in groups, divide tasks and roles and they mentored to understand their strengths and challenges and resolve conflicts. They learn to work with others who are different from them, giving them a diverse perspective and mindset about working together. Nigeria cannot succeed without all of us uniting and learning to work with each other, irrespective of tribe, religion, region and family background. When we win as individuals, we will still be surrounded by helpless people, but when we win as a society, everyone develops. 4. TEACHERS: Here in China, we are always happy and encouraged to learn new things and ways to teach our students. We are free from worrying about food, shelter and pocket money. We are paid more than enough, so we have enough time and mental space to throughly research information and knowledge, and also design useful and interesting lessons for our students. Nigerian teachers should be paid a minimum of 800k to 1 million Naira per month. Primary school teachers lay down the crucial foundations for our economic growth, development and future. It is one of the most important professions in the country and the compensation and benefits MUST be more than senators and representatives. Liking, commenting and retweeting are nice because they help spread the message, however what’s more important is us uniting as Nigerians with our common interest to ensure that our needs are addressed.
