Brothers and sisters of Ireland, 🇮🇪 We gather not in silence, but in strength. We gather not in hate, but in hope. And we gather not to divide, but to demand. For the past number of days, our country has been brought to a standstill. Not by chaos without cause, but by people pushed to the edge. Farmers, workers, drivers, families, ordinary Irish people have taken to the roads, to the streets, to the gates of this nation’s lifelines because the cost of simply living has become too much to bear. They are not there for attention. They are there because they cannot afford not to be. Fuel prices have surged to unsustainable levels, driven by global crises and policies beyond the control of ordinary people. And yet, it is the ordinary people who are expected to carry the burden. They tell us support has been given. They tell us measures are in place. They tell us to be patient. But patience does not fill a tank. Patience does not keep a business alive. Patience does not put food on the table. Across Ireland, roads have been blocked, cities brought to a halt, and supply lines disrupted. Fuel depots, ports, even the country’s only oil refinery have been targeted in protest. Not out of malice but out of desperation. And now we see the response. The government condemns the protests. They speak of disruption, of law and order, of consequences. They warn of penalties and even bring in the Defence Forces to assist. But where was this urgency before? Where was this response when people were crying out for help? We ask not for chaos. We ask not for division. We ask for fairness. We are doing everything to ensure that our joint actions are enough to truly protect Ukraine – and therefore Europe. We are doing everything to ensure that our joint actions are enough to truly protect Ukraine – and therefore Europe. Since February 24, Poland’s support for Ukraine has been unprecedented – never before at this scale in our shared history. Lithuania is with us – at an unprecedented level as well. All Baltic states are with us. Northern Europe is with us. Germany is one of the key defenders of life. France is with us. The United Kingdom is with us. Almost all of Central Europe is with us. Italy is with us. Spain and Portugal, the countries of Southern Europe, are with us. Romania and Moldova are with us. In 1863, the insurgents could not even dream of such unity – and today, that unity is working. The European Union exists and grows stronger every year. The United States is with us. Canada is with us. Japan is with us. Our call is simple: this unity must be 100 percent effective. Not halfway. Not for a few months a year. Not until the next elections in one European country or another. But fully effective. Not what is convenient. Not what feels acceptable. But as much as is required to work – so that there is no threat to Europe or to any of our nations.
