Haryana withdrew its colleges 55 years ago in the early 1970s, shifted them to Kurukshetra University, stopped funding PU, and lost all representation in its Senate. Since then, Haryana has had no stake, no affiliation, and no role in PU’s governance. Knowing that Haryana walked away 55 years ago, Now suddenly there’s intense interest from Haryana pressure from the Haryana CM, pressure from the Centre, Haryana student unions talking about a share and even a committee formed by the VC to discuss Haryana’s stake? ABVP students are protesting against the auction of HCU lands, and I fully support them. Instead of addressing their concerns, the Congress government sent police to suppress them. Innocent students were lathi-charged, hostel rooms were raided, and many were dragged into vans. Is this the Congress model — sell public lands and silence students with lathis? Will they leave nothing for future generations? If even a Central University is not safe, what is? Strongly condemn this inhuman behavior. Release the arrested students immediately and withdraw this decision to auction the university lands.

Parents will not pay the full cost of the university programmes because the Government will provide upto 95 percent support to each student. The New Funding Model for universities has made higher education more accessible and affordable for all students. The government offers scholarships and loans tailored to meet the varying needs of students: - Students from vulnerable families are placed in Band 1 and receive 95% government support. - Students in Band 2 receive 90% support. - Students in Band 3 receive 80% support. - Students in Band 4 receive 70% support. - Students in Band 5 receive 60% support. As promised by the President, No one is left behind!

Criticizing him for his stance then is fair, but a more productive question now is: What happened to those students and other temporary foreign workers? Have they been deported to India, or are they still here out of status and therefore in Canada illegally, taking away jobs from Canadians? He and his party should push the current government to answer that question.
