Has anyone ever done this drill? What is the goal? Side note, this guy's swing thoughts have been very helpful for me.

What is practice? Swing coaches? Drills? Golf is better when you get on the first and have no idea where it’s going. Variety is the spice of life.

My swing coach has me do this drill. A version of it. This drill has changed my ball flight from a really bad slice to a pretty nice draw over the last two years. I like it because I can practice it indoors with wedges and foam balls.

I am actively working to get rid of my draw because it's a violent hook way too often. I miss a nice gentle draw.

I would assume he’s doing it to help with the timing or sequencing of his swing.

Have you done this drill?

Never with a driver, but if I’m having issues with contact or face direction, this is helpful with mid iron to start with punch shots and progress to full swing

This would mean you do practice sometimes?

Funny just yesterday I was doing similar. 9i full swing at 20%ish speed for contact then 7i then 5i, then driver. Slow for sequence purposes. If i messed up, i went slower

I do slow mo stuff quite often. It seriously helps the feel and muscle memory

Whoa, that's not slow-mo. Awesome.
