Has anyone experienced this tragedy?

I have purchased many of them over the years, but only if repairs had NOT been attempted. I get them dirt cheap, fix them properly and keep them. This '73 was so bad I also replaced the headstock overlay, it was literally folded.

That's how you know you have an authentic Gibson.

That is a very Gibsonesque tragedy. My Tele has bounced a few times, but never broken. You're gonna need some splines and a pair of experienced hands to sort that out.

Next time buy a guitar fitted with one of these devices! Joking aside yes to my Hofner Violin Bass Fixable though Best

Overpriced hunks of junk

yes, it happened to the first Les Paul I owned, cost me about £500 for repairs and that was back in 2004

Yes!!!! 💔😭😭

My condolences

Broke my heart, so I had to buy another one 🎸😉

No but my 52/52 had a very nicely repaired break when I got it in ‘68 and never had any trouble with it. Back in the day nobody had guitar stands. We just leaned them on the amp or hung them on the amp by the strap. Recipe for disaster.

No. I used to slide my 1990 Les Paul Standard (in the case) down 13 steps into my basement after a gig. I watched my SG face plant off a OnStage stand. My Les Paul Swap Ash Studio has not been treated with the utmost care either. What the Hell are you people doing to your Gibsons?

That is one impressive repair. I also noticed that the volute didn’t prevent the break.

The authentic break-away headstock, for your safety! Imagine how long a car company would last if an axle broke off so easy from pot holes. Yet Gibson blames owners for mishandling. Those guitar headstocks keep many a guitar tech in business. .

No. Only happens to careless clumsy owners.

Brilliant work! Absolutely love you technique. Just genius and love of wood at work 💪🏻

lol never!

it can be fixed.. a pro will place rods down the neck

Yep! On my 1st Les Paul😔

Bad cheap wood

Unless your guitar is a collectors piece its probably worthless after a neck break

Never. But I hope to one day find an expensive R9 that had a headstock break. I have big plans for one 🙌🏽

....chi!!! 🥹

I don’t own a Gibson. So no. 😁

Yes, but luckily not on an actual Gibson. I already knew how to do a spin where you throw the guitar over the shoulder, but I was learning how to do the back-under-throw kind, and the strap itself broke in half, and this happened. It was a cheaper Epiphone Les Paul Special II.

Is that a sitar on the floor? And you have to fix a broken LP neck.. Yep that's a tragedy.

Yes and it's never the same again despite the repair

Pete Townsend?

I always put my L Paul’s in the case when not playing. Strats, Charvels I’ll keep on stands, leaning against desk, whatever I don’t worry about it.

Ouch

What's the time it takes to accomplish this?

Go headless, it should be easier...
