Gutu Pastors’ Fraternity recently spent hours praying and cleansing a black spot near Tachi Business Center, 14km from Mpandawana along Gutu-Roy Road where scores of people were killed by accidents. Pastors should have noticed on the day that Traffic Safety Council Of Zimbabwe Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Zimbabwe Republic Police there are no warning signs of hazardous sharp curves at that stretch of the road and there is perennially tall grass on the roadsides that allow stray cattle to cross unnoticed by motorists. Some of the problems we burden the Lord with in our prayers are man-made and come from our lethargy as a people. Ministry of Transport - Zimbabwe go erect warning signs at the sharp curves and cut down the tall grass. You can also add shoulders at the sharp curves and half the problems would be solved. One of the victims of a fatal accident who died last year was former Hwiru Primary School head, Jonah Takabvirwakare. This is what led to the arrest of Matthew Takaona on Tuesday …..These are the perils school kids going to Mushayavanhu Primary/secondary and several other schools along Gutu-Bhasera Highway go through daily. Countless fatal accidents have been reported on this road because of lack of maintenance. Matthew Takaona, a journalist and publisher was arrested by the CIO on Tuesday when he mobilised a group of parents to cut down the grass and bushes and create more space for children to walk on the sides of the road. This situation affects children throughout the country. There will be gnashing of teeth after CAB3– Chadzamira MORRIS BISHI MASVINGO – Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira has warned party members opposing Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 (CAB3) that there is going to be gnashing of teeth when that process is done and dusted. Speaking at a Zanu PF Provincial Inter-district Meeting at Clovelly in Masvingo on Saturday, Chadzamira told the gathering that he and the Minister of State for Security, Lovemore Matuke are aware of the political activities of every MP and councilor and secret meetings that are being held to derail the passage of the Bill. CAB3 if passed will allow President Mnangagwa to rule for another two years after 2028 without going to an election and the same will apply to MPs. There is a public outcry over the amendment process with lawyers arguing that extending Mnangagwa and Parliament’s life without a referendum is illegal. Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and top retired army generals have openly opposed the amendments and vowed to fight them. A senior AirForce officer based at Magama Tongogara Airbase in Gweru, Stafford Ncube and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Officer Commanding Midlands, Somemore Gate allegedly took a tractor and ploughed down 2023 opposition Parliamentary candidate for Chirumhanzi South Constituency, Patrick Cheza's 3-week-old maize crop in a wrangle over a farm in Mvuma that the latter was allocated by the Ministry of Lands.The incident happened on Saturday and the total cost of the destroyed 2-hectares is US$2K. The two senior security officers drove to Cheza's farm using unmarked new Ford Rangers which Government is splashing on senior civil servants, musicians and Zanu PF officials. The matter was reported at Mvuma Police Station under RRB 5909845. The officers' action is in contempt of a court case of the same matter which is before a judge at the High Court in Masvingo. Chiredzi Central Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) MP Ropafadzo Makumire was this morning stopped by Police from hosting elderly people at Tshovani Stadium for his 33rd birthday. He was told to take the guests to his house if he wished to continue with the programme. He however, reminded ZRP that the old people they barred from using the stadium are the same people who built it. He said it was hard to imagine Police excuse that he was trying to topple Government with the gathering. "Surely can i carry out an uprising with old people like these here". Chiredzi Central Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) MP Ropafadzo Makumire was this morning stopped by Police from hosting elderly people at Tshovani Stadium for his 33rd birthday. He was told to take the guests to his house if he wished to continue with the programme. Benefit Chikomo says he left a comfortable life in Australia and returned to Zimbabwe to enter politics and fight for change. But before he could officially launch his new party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), police allegedly stopped the rally from going ahead in Masvingo. Chikomo claims he followed all the required procedures and accuses authorities of denying opposition parties political space. Has Zimra lost confidence in its office at Beitbridge Border Post …..? Barely an hour after leaving Beitbridge towards Masvingo, Zimra is impounding buses to reassess duty declared on goods. Buses are held at a disused railway station in Masvingo and sometimes drivers and passengers are there for days and they complain of hunger, lack of ablution facilities, cold and disrupted programmes. Yesterday buses were again impounded to the station and passengers accused Zimra of pushing its inefficiencies at the border down on innocent travellers. The passengers accused Zimra of treating them like foreigners. Last week, ZRP Officer Henry Kwejo testified in court that a whole consignment of mbanje worth US$22k passed right through the border post and it was only impounded in Masvingo. Former Helen McGhie Primary School head, Hebert Horuno Zengeya told Zanu PF Senator Lovemore Matuke recently that his Zanu PF Government is like an evil spirit that is wrecking chieftainships by spreading hate, dividing families and setting heirs on each other’s throats for its own political convenience. Speaking at the installation of his cousin Togara Masunda as Chief Nyamandi, Zengeya said Mnangagwa took seven years to ascend to the appointment of a new chief when the law says this process must happen within two years. He said the Nyamandi Chieftainship has never resolved its succession through courts or wrangles but because of Zanu PF this had started to happen. Government officials were not to have Zengeya speaking as a family representative at the installation function.
