Only his breed. That's a South American MerDog. You can't see them, but he's got gills under the front paw-pits, and his back legs form a fish tail when fully submerged. Also, I just made all of that up. Because why not? A DOG just went under the damned water!

Had a black lab female who loved to fetch anything. I tossed a 1/2 brick into the pool down she went. Brought it back everytime

i had a golden retriever who would do that...but not for that long. Even observed her once teaching another dog how to go under water - similar to the "blowing bubbles" practice in toddler swim classes. No human taught her; just came naturally

I’ve heard of pointer dogs for hunting. Never a deep sea diving dog. Must be a Navy Seabee. You never know what our four legged friends are capable of - I’ve even heard some were astronauts. 😁
