Used to take student pilots to one. They're usely wider and the grass is forgiving on side-loading the gear, while they're learning crosswind landings.. #Pilots

Yes, grass is easier, it allows for little inaccuracies, you can slip on gras. On tarmac you are going to be caught by it on touchdown and it can take your tire off or rotate you if you're thinking "behind aircraft".
