A local utility company in Illinois has plans to help lower residents electrical bills They will be requiring new data centers and planned data centers to sign 10 year contracts saying they will be responsible for paying for upgrade costs and electricity usage costs “That means any new data centers would be on the hook for power upgrades and any energy they plan to use, even if the data center ends up not getting built or if they don't use as much power as planned or if they close. I think the discussion about data centers in space is to address another potential bottleneck in the ecosystem, which is energy. I think the discussion around putting data center in space is there because if you do that, the energy consumption or the energy availability will be there, about trying to solve another potential big issue, which is energy for data center. Be aware of what your electricity bill is now. Watch what happens if any AI data centers get built in your region. Your rates are going to increase dramatically because consumers are going to be forced to pay for the expansion of the power supply. If AI companies are not forced to fully fund their electricity requirements, the rest of us will pay for it. We are starting to see communities rise up and protest the building permits for AI data centers in their areas.

So I guess our allies aren't going to have the data centers either. My job is to communicate the facts, and that's what I do. 20 years ago, even 10 years ago, data centers in Virginia, where they started, used a lot of water and it caused prices to go up when it was attached to the grid. Well, you cannot attach the grid anymore. The Utah project contemplates bringing new power to Utah. All of the power will be created from nat gas pipeline that runs through there, and will give back to the community. It will generate enough power that some percentage of it will go back to the grid. If you want China to overtake our ability to develop cutting edge technology, you stop data centers. So that's the cause and effect of it all. If you want China to lead, take over our, let's call it democracy, our free speech, and the way we live with technology, just stop building data centers. It's that simple.
