He literally explained the Black Coffee Theory and why it changes how you approach life.

remind me of this line in alice in the wonderland

I DONT WANT 200 MILLION DOLLARS FUCKK!! NO!! NOT 200 MILLION

Be specific about what you want in this life The universe conspires to assist you

“Don’t look where you don’t want to go, because that’s where you’ll end up” It doesn’t only apply to motocross or snowmobiling, it applies to life in general

Here’s a better example: While crossing a stream, you don’t focus on the flowing water. You focus on the stones you want to step on and the other bank you want to reach. You cannot step on the stones if you are busy focusing on the water, trying not to get wet.

It's a well done video. There IS a point here, but it's not truly axiomatic. It's an oversimplification. Plenty of intelligent baristas would say, "You said you wanted anything but a black coffee, so I made you this. I think you'll like it." Not every season of your life is driven by a desire for something. Sometimes, you only know which things you don't want. If you wake up in a burning house, you almost certainly don't have a specific destination in mind. You just know that you don't want to stay in the fire. No matter how beautifully framed it is, cheap wisdom is still cheap. This is cognitively useful, but don't make it absolute, or you'll miss the bigger picture.

People greatly underestimate the power of the words. It's so important to speak things you actually want to manifest into your life and be very aware with how you talk to yourself about yourself. What you focus on and what you speak, you attract.

That's a cool way of explaining that. Back when I lived in Texas, I used to tell clients all the time that there's a big difference with the results you get in saying: "I want to go to Dallas" as opposed to saying "I don't want to go to San Antonio" With "I want to go to Dallas", you have the specific road map to get there. Now that doesn't mean it's going to be a smooth ride to get there, but you can at least plan for what you're going to do when (not if) you run into problems, like bad traffic, a flat tire, running out of gas, etc. With "I don't want to go to San Antonio", you'll start driving in any direction that's not towards San Antonio, and at the first sign of trouble, like bad traffic, a flat tire, running out of gas, etc. you'll end up turning around over and over again, trying different roads to see if that's any better. Where you end up, who knows but chances are good you're not going to be happy with it. But at least you're not in San Antonio. Most people can't ever tell me what they really want, whether it's in a partner, in work, or really just in life. It's always much easier (because we're wired to do this) to focus on the things we don't want. But what I do know is that, in terms of getting what you want and being happy, one version works better than the other.

This is so fucking thoughtless. Faux intellectualism here is so useless. It would be like if my foot was caught in a bear trap and somebody walks by, oh jeez, I better not tell them I don't want my foot caught in a bear trap. Like fucking think about it.

Horrendous analogy but I understand what he’s trying to say

The fine line of setting your intentions and letting go and believing you have to manage it all yourself. We have to start the engine but we’re not the engine itself. The Universe responds to intention but then flows through us in response to ease, joy, faith and trust 🙏🌎❤️

You really must of had a stupid barista to serve you a black coffee after explicitly saying that’s the one thing you don’t want

The barista could use your lack of free will and sell you everything. Sales 101

Have you heard of the 'take advice from talking head strangers with piano music in the background' theory? Its a bad theory, but not as bad as this poorly named theory.

Sometimes we think we’ve made a decision but we’ve really just had a thought. Decisions need to be committed to become real and have to limit some other behavior or option. Our uncommitted decisions linger and eat away at us.

That’s literally how the law of attraction works!

Just be specific about what you want, rather than being so focused on what you don't. Why are people having such a hard time with the analogy? lmao

So the secret of life is learning how to prompt engineer for yourself.

so.... " the secret" using different verbiage.

What he’s speaking about is.. technically part of Quantum Mechanics. Humans are very powerful, far more powerful than most of us believe we are. Humans can quite literally will things into existence. This is why Hope & Love are the most powerful things we can do.

Reminds me of this...

As a recovering addict, this is what I dont get about AA meetings. I'm not knocking, that's different than not understanding. I dont understand how talking about an issue and obsessing over it for an hour a couple times a week and introducing yourself as an addict helps. LOL

He left out the part where ordering a latte is gay.

Shouldn't this be called the Latte theory?

The problem with this idea is that it puts everything on hold until you figure out exactly what you want. Doing that is neither trivial nor fast. The only pragmatic way to implement this is to focus on experimenting outside of the set of things you know you don't want. Take a look at the menu, identify what you don't want and then focus on picking something you might like. Add the info from that experiment to your model. Keep iterating.

“Don’t think of the purple elephant”

Oh no, I really don’t want a loving wife and beautiful kids and I especially don’t want to live happily ever after oh nooooo -__- Have you ever heard of the “get up and work for it” theory? It’s where you get up… well, you get it.

I don't want to win $80m tomorrow on the powerball

I don’t want to be suffocated by a swarm of robotic care bears. As long as that doesn’t happen I’m good. I pray every day that this doesn’t happen to me. I’ve even put a picture on my wall of this happening, so I know what fate to avoid.

Focus and intention is everything. Are you consciously choosing your reality or are you a victim of it?

@grok is this what black coffee theory is? I thought it was about not needing constant sweeteners to feel okay?

Latte is crap.

Be specific about what you want in this life The universe conspires to assist you

it's a game changer for decision making and resource allocation
