I do these 3 exercises religiously for my lower back. They’re called the McGill Big 3 and they consist of: 1. The McGill Crunch 2. Side plank holds 3. Focused & Activated Bird Dogs They build endurance in the lower back & core while increasing core stability. The key is to brace the core (aka. push it out) while keeping your spine & hips in a neutral position. I do these before my workouts as they help activate the core prior to lifting. I do 1 set of 6-12 repetitions. Do these 3-4 days a week for 3 weeks to notice a difference.

I don’t care what the science says, this is my favorite exercise for quads and core and I wasn’t able to do it for years before I got the hip fixed. 7 weeks total hip replacement - gonna need some bigger dumbbells! Loving the process!

Isometric Plate Hold A beautiful primal core finisher for any forearm, back or full body training day - fantastic for posture and real world strength - Torches the entire anterior chain — deep core brace (transverse abdominis, rectus, obliques) fights the forward pull to keep your spine neutral - Forges iron grip & forearm endurance from crushing those wide edges of the plate with the open handed grip Simply hold a plate out in front of yourself, taking some of the weight on your quads Hold heavy, breathe deep, stand up tall and constantly rebrace to keep tension Start lighter, hold for as long as you can, and work your way up. As I said, it helps to have a friend stack plates onto you but getting it up from the ground is part of the strength building too. Wearing full cotton outfit from Sol Dept.
