🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE ✅ Traffic has resumed on the Pune–Mumbai Connecting Link Road. Vehicular movement has been restored after completion of extensive safety operations. Despite relentless monsoon conditions, including heavy rainfall, strong winds and low visibility, MSRDC teams worked continuously to ensure the route could be reopened safely. The following measures were undertaken: - 🚧 Debris was cleared from the affected stretch. - 🚜 The carriageway was thoroughly cleaned using specialised equipment. - 👷 Technical experts carried out detailed inspections of Tunnel 2 and the adjoining slope to ensure no loose material posed a risk. - ⚙️ Drone surveys were attempted; however, dense fog, heavy rain and strong winds restricted aerial operations. Traffic has been restored only after the required safety and technical assessments were completed. 🌧️The Mumbai Metropolitan City (Mumbai City & Suburbs) has experienced extremely heavy rainfall over the past two days. In certain locations, an unprecedented volume of rainfall exceeding 350 millimetres was recorded within a short duration. ☔️In light of the prevailing weather conditions, all departments of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were actively and continuously engaged in on-ground operations. Officers, engineers, pump operators, health workers, other staff and emergency response teams remained deployed on-field with utmost dedication and promptness. 🔹Special attention was given to critical work such as the storm water drainage system, sewerage network and pumping stations. Immediate and necessary measures were undertaken to ensure that the drainage of rainwater remained unhindered and that public inconvenience was minimised. 🌧️Due to the exceptional nature of the rainfall, citizens did face inconvenience at a few locations. The slab of the Borivali North FOB, which was highlighted on social media, was again thoroughly inspected tonight. The soundness of the concrete was checked by intense tapping the deck slab from inside the FOB, and the structure was found to be safe, sound, and durable. The visible sag reported as a crack is not an actual crack but slab shape since its formation. The deck slab and its surfacing were also examined thoroughly, and no signs of cracks , settlement, or distress were observed. There is no peeling of concrete and no other structural issues were observed in the said slab of FOB. The Kasheli Depot, the operational backbone of Mumbai Metro Line 5, is steadily taking shape with 23% overall physical progress achieved as of June 2026. Spread across approximately 27 hectares near Kasheli Toll Plaza, the depot is being developed to support the long-term operations, maintenance and stabling requirements of the 32 km Thane–Bhiwandi–Kalyan–Ulhasnagar Metro corridor. Designed to accommodate around 30 trainsets, the facility will include inspection bays, workshop lines, a test track, a Depot Control Centre, administrative facilities, staff quarters, utility infrastructure and advanced maintenance systems. Given the site's challenging marine clay conditions, #MMRDA has adopted advanced ground improvement techniques in consultation with #IITBombay to ensure long-term structural stability. At the same time, temporary inspection, testing and commissioning facilities are being developed to support the phased rollout and early operational readiness of #MumbaiMetro Line 5. As construction progresses, the Kasheli Depot is set to become the technical and operational hub that will power safe, reliable and efficient metro services across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar. Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis said, "The Kasheli Depot reflects Maharashtra's commitment to building modern and reliable public transport infrastructure. The Kasheli Depot, the operational backbone of Mumbai Metro Line 5, is steadily taking shape with 23% overall physical progress achieved as of June 2026. Spread across approximately 27 hectares near Kasheli Toll Plaza, the depot is being developed to support the long-term operations, maintenance and stabling requirements of the 32 km Thane–Bhiwandi–Kalyan–Ulhasnagar Metro corridor. Designed to accommodate around 30 trainsets, the facility will include inspection bays, workshop lines, a test track, a Depot Control Centre, administrative facilities, staff quarters, utility infrastructure and advanced maintenance systems. Given the site's challenging marine clay conditions, #MMRDA has adopted advanced ground improvement techniques in consultation with #IITBombay to ensure long-term structural stability. At the same time, temporary inspection, testing and commissioning facilities are being developed to support the phased rollout and early operational readiness of #MumbaiMetro Line 5. As construction progresses, the Kasheli Depot is set to become the technical and operational hub that will power safe, reliable and efficient metro services across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar. Infrastructure, Investment, and Water Conservation – Maharashtra on the Rise!✨ It was an overwhelming moment to be at 'TiEcon Mumbai 2025: India’s Leading Entrepreneurial Leadership Summit' in Mumbai, today. Humbled to receive the 'TiE Mumbai Hall of Fame' award at the hands of the legendary, Infosys founder Narayana Murthy ji. This award is a proud recognition of the governance model we embarked on in 2014 under the visionary leadership of our Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji. Mahalaxmi to Get India's First Travellator-Equipped Skywalk Linking Monorail, Metro 3 and Suburban Railway MMRDA has completed approximately 90% of the Mahalaxmi Multimodal Connectivity Project, a landmark initiative that will seamlessly connect Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk Monorail Station, Metro Line 3 and Mahalaxmi Suburban Railway Station through India's first travellator-equipped skywalk, making travel across Mumbai faster, safer and more convenient. Once operational, the integrated interchange will reduce transfer time by approximately 20 minutes, improve access to the Mumbai Monorail from South Mumbai and Worli, and encourage greater use of public transport through seamless multimodal connectivity. Project Highlights: • Approximately 283-metre-long integrated pedestrian bridge • 11-metre-wide structure for smooth passenger movement • Six travellators with a combined length of 176 metres • Two passenger lifts for universal accessibility • Capacity to accommodate approximately 4,500 passengers every hour Built in one of Mumbai's most utility-congested corridors, the project reflects MMRDA's engineering expertise. A 1,800 mm diameter storm water drain was safely relocated before foundation works began, while adjacent water supply and sewer pipelines remained undisturbed, ensuring uninterrupted civic services throughout construction. The project was also executed without felling a single tree, with traffic managed in close coordination with the Traffic Police and the annual Ganesh Visarjan processions along Sane Guruji Marg continuing without disruption. More than a pedestrian bridge, this is another step towards a truly integrated public transport ecosystem where Metro, Monorail and suburban rail work together as one seamless network for Mumbai. This important road serves several communities, and its rehabilitation is aimed at restoring safe, smooth, and reliable access for residents and commuters who depend on it daily. Governance at your fingertips – now on WhatsApp too! Chaired a review meeting regarding status of RTS Notified Services on Aaple Sarkar Portal. The State Government currently offers a wide range of services through this portal, and soon these will also be accessible on WhatsApp, bringing governance closer to citizens like never before. In the meeting, directed the integration of 9 BMC services, reduction in documentation and regular third-party verification for quality assurance. All Zilla Parishads, Municipal Corporations, and Universities will now adopt uniform dashboards to provide citizens with a seamless experience across Maharashtra. To ensure last-mile delivery, a ring and cluster model will be introduced, starting with 10–12 villages per taluka, backed by dedicated teams. Additionally, the Digital Seva will be leveraged to further enhance transparency and efficiency.
