This has been possible through continuous follow-up, coordinated efforts, and timely planning. I am glad to have worked closely with Hon. Minister Adv. 🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE ✅ Traffic has resumed on the Pune–Mumbai Connecting Link Road. Vehicular movement has been restored after completion of extensive safety operations. Despite relentless monsoon conditions, including heavy rainfall, strong winds and low visibility, MSRDC teams worked continuously to ensure the route could be reopened safely. The slab of the Borivali North FOB, which was highlighted on social media, was again thoroughly inspected tonight. The soundness of the concrete was checked by intense tapping the deck slab from inside the FOB, and the structure was found to be safe, sound, and durable. The visible sag reported as a crack is not an actual crack but slab shape since its formation. The deck slab and its surfacing were also examined thoroughly, and no signs of cracks , settlement, or distress were observed. There is no peeling of concrete and no other structural issues were observed in the said slab of FOB. While extreme monsoon rains are typically associated with the Western Ghats and the North East, Telangana has increasingly emerged become a new center for extreme monsoon rains, witnessing some of its most intense and frequent downpours in the last ten years. Central Telangana was drenched with 300–420 mm of rain within 24 hours, just two days ago, under the influence of The increasing occurrence of these extreme rainfall events indicates a strengthening monsoon pattern, contributing to recurrent flooding and surface inundation across the state.. Back in 2024, Telangana also faced extreme rainfall Kakarvai in Khammam logged 520 mm and Nellikudur in Mahabubabad saw 460 mm on September 1, while the usually arid Kodad was drenched with 344.8 mm just a day earlier. In July 2023, a low-pressure system (BB5) over the Bay of Bengal brought devastating rains to Telangana. Lakshmidevipeta in Mulugu district recorded an astounding 649.8 mm in 24 hours, while Chityal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally saw 610 mm on the same day. Across the state, over 70 locations reported extreme rainfall with 18 places above 300 mm and another 35 above 200 mm. The 2022 monsoon will be remembered for the historic Godavari floods, the river at Bhadrachalam swelled to 71.3 feet, releasing 24,43,000 Cusecs after days of relentless rain over Maharashtra and Telangana. Even usually dry Nalgonda saw an unprecedented 192 mm on July 23, while Khanapur (Nirmal) recorded 290 mm on July 14, during a week of intense rainfall across the state. 2021 - A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal in early September 2021 brought exceptionally heavy rainfall to Telangana, resulting in flooding across several districts. The overall state rainfall was approximately 30% above normal for the period. The 2020 monsoon stands out for the historic Hyderabad floods, when the city was battered by unprecedented rains in mid-October. On October 14th, rainfall crossed 200 mm across many parts of the city Himayatnagar (298.8 mm), Charminar (245 mm), Bandlaguda (242 mm), and the SR Campus gauge reported an exceptional 311 mm. Across Telangana, the season’s rainfall was 46% above normal. Even before the recent extremes, Telangana had witnessed above-normal monsoon years. The goods train (Concor Green Field Private Terminus), hauled by Loco Nos. 27237 & 27600, was already halted at RAU Home Signal due to scheduled engineering work in the RAU yard. 🌧️The Mumbai Metropolitan City (Mumbai City & Suburbs) has experienced extremely heavy rainfall over the past two days. In certain locations, an unprecedented volume of rainfall exceeding 350 millimetres was recorded within a short duration. ☔️In light of the prevailing weather conditions, all departments of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were actively and continuously engaged in on-ground operations. Officers, engineers, pump operators, health workers, other staff and emergency response teams remained deployed on-field with utmost dedication and promptness. 🔹Special attention was given to critical work such as the storm water drainage system, sewerage network and pumping stations. Immediate and necessary measures were undertaken to ensure that the drainage of rainwater remained unhindered and that public inconvenience was minimised. 🌧️Due to the exceptional nature of the rainfall, citizens did face inconvenience at a few locations. MMRDA Begins Resurfacing Works on Atal Setu for Enhanced Durability & Riding Comfort The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has initiated comprehensive resurfacing and pavement restoration works on the Atal Setu, ensuring long-term strength and superior riding comfort for commuters. To avoid complete closure of the bridge, the work is being carried out in phases. The third and fourth lanes will be resurfaced first, and once completed, the remaining two lanes will be taken up. After observing pavement distress in certain localised stretches on the Navi Mumbai–bound carriageway, starting at the 10.4 km mark, mainly on the outer heavy-vehicle lanes, MMRDA conducted a detailed technical review. Temporary rectification using mastic asphalt was carried out during the monsoon to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure commuter safety. Now that the monsoon has subsided, full-fledged resurfacing operations have commenced.
