Helen McEntee recently said that the hate speech bill is needed because currently "incitement to violence" is not illegal in Ireland. Today the Taoiseach contradicted her, saying that "incitement to violence" is illegal, and there's "no need" for new laws. Ben Scallan 🇮🇪 reacts.

@Ben_Scallan She just wants to push through more laws to control what people say, especially about herself.

@Ben_Scallan The government's communication skills are so poor, it can't even gossip effectively with itself, let alone its citizens.

@Ben_Scallan I think what she meant was that the 1989 legislation isn't sufficient/has too high an actionable threshold for the Irish policing future she envisions: booting in your front door and carting you off if you digitally look at a minister or a 'protected group' sideways.

@Ben_Scallan I do love Ben's precision! It's refreshing! I've fallen out of love with the management jargon of government.Maybe they should run his approach up the flagpole, circle back for alignment, and ensure there's synergy across all touchpoints. We could workshop it in a blue-sky sessions

@Ben_Scallan They're looking to cement antiwhite censorship in Ireland, in lockstep with the rest of the West, but failing that, they will simply interpret the existing laws however they see fit to achieve the same objective.

@Ben_Scallan TBF Ben, one could be forgiven for thinking there is no incitement to hatred bill currently considering how much @onekannon gets away with.

@Ben_Scallan Lolol . They are not used to a robust media. EU parties say we want this law passed. Podge and rodge the item come home and make up something to try to pass it.

@Ben_Scallan The woman is grossly incompetent and is in dereliction of the duties of a Minister. She is perhaps the worst Minister in any portfolio in the history of the State.

@IrexitFreedom @Ben_Scallan Importing numerous unvetted, unwanted, unemployable young foreign men into your town or city is itself, an incitement to violence. Let those who are doing it be arrested by anti hate crime laws. And, accountable for the thefts, assaults, rapes, and murders that occur.
