so cool! does it need a lot of optimizing to work in webgl? im just curious since just got started learning 3js, would it work more efficiently if done in webgpu?

Not out of the box but it could be optimised in WebGPU as Compute Shader can share memory and have read/write access to buffers at arbitrary location while in WebGL has to process vertex by vertex. If you are learning 3js then TSL (their new shading language) has compute capabilities.
