Hellsing (2001)...which one do you prefer? This or 2006?

Ultimate is objectively better But that doesn't mean the first series was bad It had a great vibe and was the hardest vampire occult anime around. Hellsing is iconic in every way. There's truly nothing quite like it.

They both have their own strengths. Personally I prefer the idea of the amount of blood drained determining if you become a vampire than whether or not you're a virgin.

2001 Hellsing had an incredible atmosphere and some interesting plot choices, but lacked budget and real direction. 2006 Hellsing had budget and real direction, but was too operatic and deliberately ridiculous. Millennium would have been awesome with the 2001 style.

The abridged series

I love Ultimate, but this scene in 2001 is actually a bit better because it's in a church instead of in the open.

2006 had the animation, but 2001 had the vibes.

Atmosphere/music: 2001 easy, the OST is standout for anime to this day. The tone is also more consistent, the manga gags do not translate well into Ultimate at all Story/animation/art style: Ultimate easy
