Disagree. HEV can induce chronic hepatitis in immuno compromised patients.

Keith, didn’t get a reply on #IDtwitter and #Pedstwitter, so asking you. Do you know why newborns are vaccinated against HBV, although transmission is mostly sexual or blood/fluid/organ borne. Can’t we wait until later in life for HBV vax? Also paging @Sthanu5 TIA

@Sthanu5 Hep B infection follows a different disease course in children vs adults Adults: 5% chronic hepatitis (with risks of cirrhosis / HCC), 95% acute (with spontaneous seroconversion) Children: 95% chronic, 5% acute Therefore makes sense to vaccinate children
