During his sermon yesterday, Bethel leader Kris Vallotton claimed that the only Bibles he had had growing up were the Message Bible and the KJV, and "the man who finally led me to Christ and discipled me said the Message Bible wasn't a real bible." This is impossible. Vallotton is 71 and was born in 1955. While reporting multiple instances of supernatural healing and protection when he was a child, he claims he was truly saved in 1974, and then married his wife Kathy in 1975. His first spiritual father was a 'Jesus Freak' named Art Kipperman. His second spiritual father was Bill Derryberry, who died in 2022 Another spiritual father and mentor is Bill Johnson, whom Vallotton met in 1978, when Vallotton was 23. However, The Message Bible didn't come out until 1993, nearly 20 years after Valloton became saved, when he was around 38-years-old. And even then it was just the NT portion, with the complete bible and OT not being published until 2002. So what is he even talking about?
