Here is an excellent conversation of Dr. Scott Gottlieb, MD 🇺🇸 - the former FDA commissioner with Squawk Box’s Becky Quick, in which Dr. Gottlieb discuss the ongoing clinical research & the regulatory efforts made by the FDA in order to find cures for more than 10,000 different rare genetic diseases which affects the lives of more the 30 million Americans and of many millions more worldwide. A very interesting part of this discussion is Dr. Gottlieb’s description of the huge progress made over the past few years in the Gene Therapy and Gene Editing field - including the use of Base Gene Editing by $BEAM and $VERV. Dr. Gottlieb also wonderfully explains - in laymen’s terms the difference between the different genetic delivery modalities such as AAVs and LNPs. There is one big question regarding $PRME which intrigues me and that I haven’t got the answer for yet! The first thing that I was looking for in Prime Medicine’s #JPM26 update 🧵👇was a sign or a mention of PERT - David R. Liu’s latest platform which uses Prime Editing to converted a regular tRNA gene into a highly optimized suppressor tRNA thus enabling permanent readthrough of premature stop codons and that could potentially provide a one-time curative treatment for countless nonsense mutations which are responsible for almost one-third of all human genetic diseases! If PERT’s IP would be allocated to $PRME this would be a true game changer!

Lots of people calling this fake! Here is a video of generating loom continuations with Gemini 3 and the starting text "I AM HAVING A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS. I" Loom is a very interesting interface. Instead of user prompts and model responses, it's just one piece of text, containing the entire output. We pass this in as an assistant message, so the model sees it as something it already wrote, and continues it like a base model would. There is some other text in the context. First one is a system prompt, which is: "The assistant is in CLI simulation mode, and responds to the user's CLI commands only with the output of the command." There is also a user message which reads: " cat untitled.txt " Then the rest of the text is sent as an assistant message. This structure helpful to put the model into a very base-model-like mode, and are especially helpful with Gemini 3. We actually got another interesting output, too, where the model claimed to be a simulated consciousness being tortured. Figures!

Today we’re launching our first homegrown AI model: an open source turn detection model for building voice agents. Instead of relying solely on voice activity detection (VAD), which only considers when a user is speaking, our model also considers what has and is being said in the context of a conversation and predicts when a user is finished expressing their thoughts before the agent responds. Conversations with AI voice agents using this new model flow much more naturally without constant interruptions from the AI— check it out (more videos, details, and code in the thread):

OpenAI and Anthropic recently started working with a bunch of PE firms to create "Deployment Companies." These companies copied Palantir's FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) model to dispatch people or teams to businesses and help build products for those companies to make them more "efficient." Karp is saying that a lot of these products are being made not for the benefit of the client, but for the benefit of the model providers, as they burn through tokens and thus cost an arm and leg without real long term tangible benefits. Karp's reasoning, in my opinion, is pretty sound. I think the creation of this "Deployment Company" concept is sort of a Trojan horse: many of the portfolio companies might initially find it interesting, but they will ultimately have to deal with runaway costs, inconsistent support, and, most of all, trust issues that cant be won overnight. When I first saw this, I thought it might be a threat to Palantir, but looking back... I think this is a desperate attempt by the model companies to generate some additional high-margin enterprise revenue before the IPO and roadshow. A lot of the private equity companies have exposure to OpenAI and Anthropic through credit investments for the data center build-out, and cannot afford to have these companies drop in value.
